Ah collectors who collect games for no good reason other then to have a nice shelf full of games should be burnt at the stake. You should play every game you own at least once a year.

Then again people who buy games just to make a few quid on Ebay are the ones who are most to blame and these people should be shot and burnt at the stake and their ashes auctioned off.

And Neo Geo owners? I mean WTF? Spending hundreds of pounds on a game you're not likely to play that much is just stupid. Metal Slug is nice but it's on the playstation and it's cheaper. And is a very uncommon Japanese anime quiz game aimed probably at 5 year olds that you'll never play, really worth over $2000? If so then you should seek professional help.

I think for collectors, the game is actually just to collect, they are trying to catch em all, so to speak, some clearly aren't interested in the actual content of the software.

I am a gamer turned gamer/collector/trader. About 2 years ago got back into gaming after a sabatical of 5 years or so. About a year ago I wanted to get back some of my old classic mega drive stuff. I found the value of some of the old games astounding and so I caught the bug.

Now I have nearly 1000 games across loads of systems. I have about 20 sealed games and probably about 50% are unplayed, tested for a couple of minutes but unplayed. I am a collector first, gamer second and trader 3rd. If I find a valuable game cheap I'll buy it, play it, and if I don't like it sell it on, make a profit which goes into buying more games. Doing this means my collection funds itself.

I don't hoard multiple copies of games or do it just to make money. Gaming is my main hobby and that means collecting, playing and the media side of it, like forums and mags are all part of the deal.

I am looking to build up my collection through buying almost every console and the best games on each system. To play them not to collect.
