I usually stick to one game per machine. I used to flit around, but eventually got bogged down with over a dozen, half-finished games and it did my head in too much.

That said, I have put Wind Waker on the shelf for a bit; and yes, I'm up the the bit with the Triforce shards.

Yeah this is the 1st time in my gaming history that I've done this, not happy either.

When did it start? I think with Mario vs Donkey Kong, I completed it, but wanted to do the extra missions, then 4 Swords came out so I ditched Mario vs, 4 Swords got ditched for Fire Emblem, completed that, wanted to complete Hector on Hard but went back to 4 Swords (completed now) TOS came out, nearly completed TOS but had a gaming break for 2 weeks and now I have Astro Boy & Pikmin 2 to finish!

So I've got until the end of September to finish this lot proper so I can spend time with Donkey Konga!

Oh and I've gone back to Amped for some stupid reason.

I know this feeling all too well. Recently i got Tales of Symphonia, enjoyed it greatly for the 11hrs i got into it, then Winning Eleven 8 arrived. Played that loads for about 5days until Psi-Ops arrived in the post. Played through about half of that before R6:Black Arrow was released. Played that pretty much solid online for a week and now i've got a few more games to get through so now that's taking a back seat. In between all those things like SF3 Third Strike, Gradius V and KOF:MI have all been in and out of my PS2. It's annoying having loads of unfinished games lying around, but if i'm honest i'd rather it be like that than not have anything

The stupid thing is i've had a real itching to play some of my old favourites. Earlier in the week i had to force myself not to play through Metroid Prime again (i actually had the game booted up and everything before i just stopped myself), ICO has been tempting me to replay and i just spent 3 hrs yesterday playing Halo. Second Sight arrived today, but guess what i was playing first this morning? Mario World for odd some reason......

Last game I finished was FF VII. In my opnion there are just too many crap games and I try to avoid buying them, but sometimes I pick them up out of curiosity. Like I did with metroid, played it 10 minutes got killed and had to restart, it has been on the shelve ever since and I'm not going to play it again. Ofcourse this is a very personal thing, but I hate games where you have to go through a boring repetitive routine to kill a boss. Like the boss levels on MGS, what a crap game. In my opinion every console only has like 5 games that are actually worth playing. I personally couldn't think of one game that I would like to play on the X-Box for instance (which is why I don't own one). Too many crap games on every console.
I cherish my gba, which allows you to play videogames and watch tv at the same time.

evilpompie, from the sound of your words, I think you will only enjoy games that are:

            - easy
            - hack n slash

If you shelve a game because you die, then I would suggest something easy, such as Wind Waker. And if you don't like a game where you have to repeat some routine to kill a boss... well there aren't a whole lot of games where bosses don't require pattern recognition and routine... so just play a hack n slash game, where there is no pattern and you just chop the **** out of everything you see.

lostn, I get your point. However the game designer is also for a large part responsible for making sure a game doesn't get tedious. In my experience nintendo is the company that pays the most attention to this. You might loose the first and second time you come around, but by the third time you've got the hang of it and are able to beat the boss. To me that is what good game design is all about. BTW i like any type of games, as long as they are well designed (this however is a very subjective thing).

I'm sick of this problem myself, havent completed a game in quite a long while, the last one being errrrrrr Halo and that wasnt on legendary, recently tho ive shifted a lot of games in preparation for uni and have slimmed down my collection, with only taking a couple of consoles to uni i should be able to get some decent gaming in instead of flitting from one game to another!

Most boss battles in games are like this though surely.

Just because some bosses take a little longer than 3 goes to best, it doesn't mean the game is poorly designed.

Ady, when a game makes me want to break the disc in half out of pure agony to me that's bad design. To you its not. That's cool with me.

Best remedy is to put the crappy games on the shelf and just play the good ones.

But you're trying to say any game that challenges you is a crap game. That's just silly - as is blaming the game for your own shortcomings (ie impatience and irascibility).

cyemonkey is right; you need a new hobby. Or maybe an Action Replay cart or something.

Guys relax, I don't need a new hobby. Just good games. Its a good thing that people have different taste otherwise we would all be chasing the same chicks.
MGS for me is the perfect example, I really like the atmosphere of the game and sneaking up on guards and stuff was magnificent, however for me the sub-boss levels ruined the game big time. Too repetitive and boring. Maybe I have just played too many games and get bored too easliy. Whatever.
Mario 64 on the other hand is an example of a game that is extremely well designed as the non-linearity allows you to skip what you don't like and focus on other stuff. I think that's just pure genius.

There is a fine line between challenging and annoying. Obviously I get annoyed more easily than you guys. **** happens.

Irascibility - thats just a great word isnt it.I honestly dont think Ive ever actually used it before though...I think i'll start!Sums up a few people here (but that holds true for most forums - actually,it holds true for humanity in general I think)

Mostly impatience toward the skewed logic so often evident maybe.

                                Now,what was my point again.....?

One mans thing is another mans doo-dah (erm - something like that..the saying escapes me).

Some people love nothing more than to wander around in Morrowind spending many a happy hour walking around a barren wilderness whilst for others it feels like something akin to being lobotomised.

Challenge is something else,I know - I mean,Im still trying to finish Viewtiful Joe on 'Adults' .

I get frustrated as hell sometimes but Ive never thought to blame the game. But then its a bad example I suppose - I dont think anyone could accuse VJ of being badly designed no matter how frustrating it may become.Or could they.....?
