I'm terrible for this simply because I've got pretty long working hours and not much time for gaming...

Games I've put on the long finger include Ninja Gaiden, Beyond Good and Evil, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life

The ONLY game I've finished in the last 3 months is ****ing Chronicles of Riddick!

And to make things worse I've just started Tales of Symponia (having never totally completed games like Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2 or a single Final Fantasy game.

In fact, the last traditional RPG I finished was Chrono Trigger!

I've decided though, after spending a weekend without booze and over 30 hours of gaming that I'm gonna finish these games, not because I have to but because I actually want to.

Now all I need to do is stop getting distracted by N64 games I've completed years ago!

I buy one game at at time and play it untill I finish it, (although there are exceptions). That way when I finish it there will be always something to buy, ie something that ive missed in the backlog. This way works for me and doesnt allow me to acrue the credit card.

Is there that many games out, never mind good games?

Personally I've had a look at my huge backlog of games and felt ashamed. I realised instead of buying new games, why not play the ones I have? So in these two weeks off work I have I've played games that I've left half done and completed a fair few. It's made me feel a lot better too completing some games. My progress is in here, along with every one elses.

As for the inevitability of another backlog, it's nailed on. Once again I'm going to have AAA titles sat untouched. Arriving in the next few months are Paper Mario 2 US, Outrun 2, Gradius V PAL, JPN Mario Tennis, Pro Evo 4 and Zelda Minnish Cap. That then leaves titles like Fable, GTA, Metroid 2 and Halo 2 to name a few that I'm interested in but will have to delay purchasing.

I'm getting more and more like that as well, but just recently I knuckled down and committed myself to beating FFX-2. Very satsifying and glad I did it! I came very close to giving up after I accidentally saved at the wrong time, meaning I was forced to fight an extremely tough optional boss. Was told you needed level 80 to beat it, however a bit of perseverance and I did it at level 65. Woo!

Halo is probably next. I doubt I'll ever finish Metroid Prime.. it just doesn't have any appeal.

Glad to see many of you are in the same boat as me. Not that I'm malicious or anything...

It more frustrates me that I'm missing the boat on certain games than having a huge backlog. For example, at present I'm still chunking my way through La Pucelle. Disgaea and Phantom Brave haven't even been started yet, but forums are full of excited voices that I can't contribute to. It annoys me.

This is why I decided to put everything aside for Burnout 3 and happily my plan is working!

Well get off the retro and get up to date matey. IF you spent half as much time on new games as old, I'm sure you'd complete them in no time ;P

I liked the article in MCV this week too TOO MUCH RETRO!!!

LOL, I'll get to it Nips. I'm on the last Boss in Baldur's Gate 2, so I should be able to start up on something else tonight

Oh, glad you liked the MCV piece as well, I'm quite pleased with that

Incredibly I put my backlog into an Excel spreadsheet along with an estimated time input required for completion (where applicable).

Unplayed games alone account for an estimated 1152 hours play time.........

No more new games for a year then....... (yeah right!)

Actually I've cut my backlog right down lately. I used to have a stack of games higher than me that needed completing. But I've been pretty broke for the last year so I've steadily been making my way through them. I'm kinda glad I had them all there really

Yet to finish: VF4Evo (quest+training), GradiusV (1 credit run) and Ogre Battle 64 (spent 4 years at this one)

Yet to start: Paper Mario (saving for a sick period)

I never buy games when I don't have to. Most of the time I usually play through my retro wares anyhow.

I have a backlog at the moment but with most of them there games that I got stuck on or bored of so I have given up on them. About 4 games or so to concentrate on atm.

Over the next few months if I'm not carefull I'll be over run with games so I'm going to have to put off buying some games that I would have brought at a quieter time eg. summer.

This means no burnout 3, paper mario etc.

The plan at them moment is to get Fable when it gets it PAL release and hopefull that sould be completed for when HALO 2 appears and that will be my gaming sorted till 2005.

NOTE: this 'plan' will more than likely fall apart.

Ummm when I said I wouldn't buy any more games... I lied... I managed to buy Burnout 3, The Sims 2 and World War Zero all last week. The worrying thing is that I haven't played any of them because I have been playing Disgaea over everything.

That's fine by me. Stagnant games that you've half-completed are the hardest to move... new games are a new adventure, rather than forceing yourself through an old one.

I'm gonna have fun this Christmas... I'll have a lot to do.

Oh, and I've taken GTA:SA off the list and added pokemon of must buy games...
