The National Insurance and Guarantee. They have a policy which is titled All Risks, Some Exclusions (or ARSE for short ).

That's pretty funny. Might have to change my name to Arse Candle!
I actually bought my girlfriend an iPod nano the day they came out (was here birthday) and did think about having it engraved, thought it was a bit cheesy and decided against it.
I suppose I've got this to look forward to again with BO4!!

How about using "KKK Bitch"? If they complain, forward all missives to Reverend Ice Mother****in' T.

At least they weren't unreasonable about it, and gave a proper response. You guys make them out to be an uncompromising bunch of incompetants but other than the original complaint, I don't think they were that bad.

I can sort of understand "Nige" being frowned upon, as like "pr0n" it could be used to replace another word to beat filters. But Nigel?! How is that anything like the word in question!

EA's response last year was a bit odd from the point of you from someone called Nigel, but if they had complaints then It is fair that they deal with them.

I think MS's policity with Live is a bit too lax. My mate (Darkus Hund) saw a guy on Halo with the clan name "We hate Jews". I mean, come on MS ban that ****! Needless to say, Darkus made us of the "Offensive Clan name" feedback.

We had someone on Halo last night called 'Muhammad Jihad'.

You're NOT going to win in Rumble Pit with a name like that.

Like poots I fail to see what EA have done wrong. They sent a letter that seemed tailored to Bignige's particular case, rather than a prewritten one, they then listened to his case and used common sense to rule in his favour. They also tried to explain their misunderstanding and I can definitely see why they had a problem with his tag initially...
Enough of the anti-EA stuff, they've done nothing wrong! (In this case anyway...)

I feel your pain Big Nige.

It pains me to confess how dumb the following Niger experience sounds, but I was half-asleep and fell for it.

While playing one of my first games of Burnout Revenge online, another player suggested I enter the word 'Niger' in the text entry chat box. He pronounced it like the African country (ie. with a soft 'g') and I just thought it might be a code to unlock game features, and so entered it without thinking. Half asleep, remember!

In retrospect, doh! But 'nigger' is so rare in Australia that it didn't occur to me that I was being scammed.

The other guy laughed and said he had fooled another person into swearing, that he would file a report, and get yet another player banned. He said that he had been banned recently. I didn't pay him more attention or leave him feedback as I thought he must be joking.

Within a few minutes I had an email from [email protected] saying I was temporarily suspended for 72 hours for language. I mean, c'mon! For entering the name of a country!!

And I mean really suspended: none of the gamertags on my Xbox, or the new one I just registered, work on Burnout Revenge. They still work fine on other games. Xbox Live said I'd have to talk to EA, as on Xbox Live's system the accounts look fine.

I posted these issues to EA support and they gave me a response that ignored them utterly and just said "Your account has been suspended for 72 hours for using the word 'niger'" I was gobsmacked, thinking "I know that already! Do something about it!" I replied asking for an actual response - no reply several days later.

I don't remember the guy's gamer tag exactly, but it was something like Jon Lepatsky. So if you see him around, leave him some stinkin' feedback.

                            Doh!

How absolutely insane, when it comes to dirty words of all varieties the American players on Xbox Live are some of the most foul-mouthed people I've ever heard. I even heard little nasally American brats shouting "get that nigger/faggot/etc!" It's a very interesting social expirement, a perfect demonstration of what America is really like with the political correctness glossyness removed.

If you read American games mags like EGM, they have no qualms using language that you'd get slaughtered for using over here in print, e.g. "retard", "spazz" etc (at least, they used to).
