Is the Xbox right for me?

In the begining i was one of the people that slated the Xbox. However over time i have started to see the benifits of the console, but i am unsure if the Xbox is right for me.

Even though i have broadband i doubt i would ever play online.

I am NOT into FPS games

I still can't get over the controler

    I already own a Gamecube and PS2.

The main reason for getting the Xbox would be for Metal Slug and Kameo and i do like the look of a couple of the other games.

What i want to know is would it be worthwhile me buying an Xbox.

The only reason i like the Gamecube is for the first party content. I am a sucker for just about any game with Mario in it be that Golf, Party, Sunshine. The PS2 i tend to have a lot of third party games Tony Hawks, Burnout 3, Smackdown, but do have a couple of less mainstream games in Greggory Horror Show, Rez, Amplitude.

Normally i would just go out and buy the console and see if i like it and if not sell it on but everybody that owns an Xbox seams to bang on about Xbox live and Halo/2 and they do not interest me.

Its really only you that can answer this, i didn't think i was going to get one until last week but the deed was done. There are some excellent deals at the moment, Toys'r'us are selling a XBox 5 ****e games and Burnout3 for ?129. For just over a ton it has to be considered, i doubt it'll drop in price anymore for a while so the resell value shouldn't fall.

Agreed with the controller, but at least you get the controller S as standard now.

I couldn't, only because Toys'r'us have sold out of Xboxes in the midlands.
BTW you might be able to swap the ****e 3rd party pad, i did for a RGB cable

Get Metal Slug on PS2 , unless your going the full hawg and pimping out your bawkz.

Standard unit is cheap enough for a rash purchase now, i even had a look recently

The Controller S is better than either the PS2 or Gamecube controllers and it's standard now. Just my unbiased, 100% objective opinion.

I find the controller S cramp inducing with prolonged play, a problem I have never had with any control pad before, tho the PS2 pad is imo the worst of the three when it comes to racing games, its definately the best for the likes of 2D side scrollers as it's still got that basic 16bit shape to it but more comfortable. They're all good at different things really tho with a game like metal slug I'd definately go for the PS2 ver over the Xbox one purely for the pad.

Me and my mate both reckon the cube pads much better than the S. So that's two to one. 50% better infact.

I had an Xbox a while back with Halo and Panzer Dragoon Orta but had to sell.

                    My reasons are thus:

Being a Panzer Dragoon Saga nut and praying in vain for a sequel on the DC. I thought the Xbox would be logical as PDO had been released and a PDS sequel would therefore be likely on that format.

I was intrigued by Halo (the only other FPS i played and rated were Exhumed -SS and Goldeneye- N64) and was like many others blown away by it.

Not much interested me on the xbox and was forced to sell it to move Uni's. Apart from Ninja Gaiden, not much else has interested me since.

I'm reinvesting now becuase i finally have BB. 3rd Strike is released end of October and is Live ^^. Halo 2 is also released on the 11/10. And like yourself, SNK titles are making an appearance.

More than enough to keep myself entertained no end. A good time to buy i think.

Don't buy a console for a game that is as yet unreleased...Kameo is 100% unknown quantity, and going on previous Rare Xploits I'd suggest holding fire on that one....

But you can't say no to the price of an Xbox atm, ?99 God only knows how much MS are losing per box now!

Reading this I'd say ask yourself 1 question. "Do I want Outrun2 more than sex?"

If the answer is yes then get an XBox otherwise I'd not bother.

Well thats partly it, i can't resist a bargain and an Xbox, game, extra pad or dvd remote for ?99 (gamestation) is dam good value.

I remember getting hold of a Gamecube preview video just after the Cubes release and knowing that i wanted Kameo from seeing that video, while the game has changed i still think it could be the next Jet Force Gemini for me.

I am a big platform and puzzle game fan am i missing any good Xbox exclusive puzzle or platform games?

The only one that springs to mind is the Sega game (Blinx was it?) but that seamed to get very mixed reviews.

Hold it there a minute, BLINX has nothing to do with Sega at all.

For platforming and puzzling I'd stick to the cube and PS2. The XBox has nothing additional to offer you.

Even though I have far less XBOX games than PS2/GC I do feel it's more of an essential purchase than the other 2. I didn't like FPS's then I discovered multiplayer Halo. PGR2 is the best racing game ever made IMO. Add the likes of Ninja gaiden, otogi, riddick and the best versions of multi games it's got to be worth a pop at the current price. It's a perfect 2nd or 3rd console for me.
