Home Cinema Choice Xbox Xenium article

Anyone else bought Home Cinema Choice magazine this month (November)?

There's a 4 page article (one page is a big picture) on the Xbox and chipping, well, to be honest it's mostly aimed at converting an Xbox into a media centre, but it goes into some detail about the modding and home-development scene, even giving step by step instructions with pictures of how to fit a Xenium chip. Truly now Xbox modding is mainstream.

For anyone so inlined, they run the Xbox through the HCC labs test, with all the usuals (jitter, S-N ratio, Chroma etc...) given a rating from excellent - poor, as well as listing all currently supported media and data formats. Worth looking at in Smiths, if not worth buying the mag for.

The article isn't great, but will make the Xbox sound a lot more appealing to some people who might have considered it 'just a games machine'.

Indeed, I am considering buying an Xbox almost solely for this purpose. I'll have to take a look at this article, thanks for the heads-up.

How does the Xbox perform in those tests? The latest version of Xbox Media Center has just saved me alot of hastle by playing asf files from my mini DV camera that I couldn`t get to run on my underpowered iBook, its playing dvds in prog scan, ripping cd`s to mp3 and finally has some fairly good music visualisation settings(I`ve only just switched from XBMP). I`m really happy with it.

I picked up the mag today, didn't buy it, but on the cover it said something about Xbox and High definition. Did it say much about it inside the mag?
