    That explains it then.

PS2 Progressive Scan isnt all that impressive anyway compared to RGB...
Unfortunately, so it seems ... ft:

I don't own Line of Contact (I'm not touching Live, sorry) but I've got Tekki and it looks better in PS... not a quantum leap.
Tekki doesn't 'do' progressive, not at a higher resolution afaik. So while it does 'look' better, graphically it is displaying the same info.

Surely that'd qualify as a 'quantum' leap though, being such a small change?

Actually, Steel Battalion LOC does do 720p...

It shouldn't do - the maximum resolution the monitor is capable of will be better than an HDTV. But the GameCube *should* still be outputting the same resolution (is it 640x480?) in both cases. Can anyone confirm?

Could someone tell me what resolution the PAL PS2 will output with the component cable connected.
Will it be 576I or 576P?

I know (as mentioned already in the thread and at various other times by myself ), I said Tekki.

That's right; your monitor is just better at drawing the picture, less colour bleed so it looks much better overall.

I know it doesn't: I'm only running prog-scan on a CRT (hence no higher res modes anyway).

I already admitted games that run in 720p on plasmas etc look nicer (because they obviously would). I'm talking standard 480p. Which is nice. But not pant-wettingly...

to be honest when people go on about how great crt 480p is its because like rgb it looks better on the crt sets in general. native tv resolutions will always display better on crt sets.

the people who are arguing the fact that 480p is not better or there is only a small difference, i would imagine are using plasma screens to form their opinions. the thing is the tosh is gonna be better at handling 480p and the plasma is going to lose some sharpness do to the resolution being naturally much higher. all i'll say is this..............if you want a leap in picture quality worthy of raving about, try amped 2, freedom fighters, soul calibur 2 etc on xbox running in 720p. this will knock your ****ing socks off, and this difference will be incomparable(480p looks positiveley ****e in comparison)
and that said my plasma isnt top line either i have the hitachi 37pd5200
alis panel and it truely kicks ass.

starfox adventures looks fooking fantastic in progressive scan though, probably my favourite looking 480p game, but the difference is eradication of scan lines, and clearer special effects so nothing major.

                  hope this helps.

My first 480p Tv was a CRT then went to Plasma and i said its not that great a difference.
