Can anybody tell me what console the last (new) version of Golden Axe was on.

I have just been playing through 2 and 3 on my GP32 and they remind me of days gone buy when games were entertaining for more than 20 minutes.

Also was their ever a sequal to Gunstar Heros? i am enjoying that for the first time (had a SNES during the SNES V Mega Drive era)

Sega AGES did a Golden Axe 'update' on PS2, as a budget title and in 3D.

I have it, and it is without question the worst game I have had the misfortune to play for many years. Beyond awful in every possible way.

There was a proper 2D sequel to Golden Axe, in coin-op form only. You can play it in MAME. It's called Golden Axe The Revenge of Death Adder. I think it's an excellent sequel, and played it far too much in the arcades, and a fair bit on MAME too.

Sega also did a 2D Golden Axe one on one fighter called Golden Axe The Duel on STV/Saturn. Never played that one.

Gunstar Heroes never had a sequel. Treasure have just updated Guardian Heroes though, so you never know...

I knew about the PS2 version but just thought it was another release of the 2D version.

Oh well lets hope something comes along on the PSP or DS in 2D

Golden Axe: The Duel gives new meaning to the term "mediocre".

It's mediocre. I wouldn't pick it up if it were more than ?4-5.
