    The new Cardiff CEX

Has anyone been in there? I went in this morning. Nice range of titles, there seems to be more 'gamers games' rather than your normal FIFA's or Harry Potter games. They have a small selection of US Xbox games and Japanese PS2 games. I picked up a US JSRF for ?12! I had to go back after buying it though as the guy who served me put a PAL copy in the NTSC box. The beared guy who has been on Game Pad works there. He's kinda cool. I asked him whether they will be getting a wider selection of Japenese and US titles in and he said they were testing the waters with it and if people show a need for them then they will stock more. Oh and they have a silver jap PS2 (it's made of fibreglass not plastic y'know) and a steel batallion controller in the window. Altogther quite cool, I'll be going back.

Where in Cardiff is it exactly?

Selling imports would be a great idea, as theres no competition in the highstreets in and around Cardiff or Newport that I know of.

Please correct me if I'm wrong and tell me where the shop/s are as well.

CEX in Kingston is full of smelly grungers with black clothes, chains, tatoos and coloured hair.

Its located in Central Square, where the train station is. I believe, a couple of doors down from Burger King.

Have they completed CEX already. I went about 3/4 weeks ago and it was a dump inside where they were renivating. I was suprised to see the sign on top of it, i mean CEX may be an importer, but there are already 2 GAMEs a Gamestation and 'n' stores that have a diverse games section. Eiter way, I'm not complaining. I'll hope to go there soon.

Tell me, do they offer modded consoles in the highstreet? Or will I have to go shopping on the net?

Sounds like a much better place than CEX So'ton. While there are the occasional decent game, the shop is mainly full of crap. The Jap PS2 and Xbox you used to be able to play has been replaced by a cabinet full of second hand mobile phones. Phones. For ****s sake! And on the screens all around the shop, they have the PSworld DVD playing. Oh. Dear. The Xbox and GameCube stands together take up less space than the PS2 games, which are filled with the crap that you'd expect to see in Game. And did I mention the prices? Better than Game, but only just.

I've never used CEX before as there has never been one near me, and thier website is much more expensive than other reliable places. But should they offer mods for your consoles then I may go with them as I'd much prefer a face-to-face service when talking about a console...

Have any of you had any expereince with them, are their consoles expensive?

Could be worse, it could be CEX Hounslow which is located in Hounslow (nuff said)

hounslow cex has some of the most unfriendly and stupid staff i've ever come across. I've had many a problem there including one time when they refused to trade-in almost mint games saying they were too scratched. I no longer shop there and tend to goto rathbone cex instead.

I don't think there's been a decent import game shop in Cardiff since that one upstairs in Queens West closed. And that was in about 1994. It was a music shop initially, and then started to stock import console games for some reason. By the end the mosher section was tiny compared with the games bit. Very friendly. If you wanted to try the latest Super Famicom game you could just stroll in and ask.
I bought some gems in there, including US Secret of Mana and Starfox a week after it came out in Japan.

I'll have to pop in when I'm next in Cardiff then.

Sounds promising, tho isnt CEX the store that isnt allowed to import Nintendo stuff?

I asked them about import Gamecube stuff and the young chappie looked at me as though I'd just asked him if I could buy some of his mothers underwear and then scratched his head and mumbled that they don't and can't do them. Shame that, as I'd like to have expanded my Gamecube collection.
