EA: The Human Story (What Life is Like Working for EA)

I found this rather interesting link off Insert Credit

    QUOTE
An anonymous spouse of an anonymous Electronic Arts employee has posted a fairly gruesome LiveJournal entry, which details the working conditions of the industry giant's game designers. According to the article, which is freely distributable under the Creative Commons deed, EA's practices involve intentionally setting a "crunch time" for non-tardy projects, establishing mandatory eighty-five hour work weeks (though, as the article puts it, employees can go home early on Saturday night for "good behavior"), and a near-elimination of vacation time upon a project's completion. There are also quite a few interestingly anonymous comments already posted by both former and current EA employees in the Comments section.

    The Linkage

\My advice? Stop buying EA games until they get serious about treating their employees with some respect. At the end of the day we're all only human beings, and whilst some crunch time is acceptable, so is compensation for said crunch time.

Looks like the folks actually took action against EA: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=5463

Good for them - I hope it helps improve the working qualities for developers, as well as having a better effect on the industry.

Maybe this is why most EA games are crap. The golden rule happy worker= better production.

Its the fault of the consumer, capitalism y'see. Supply and demand, the wheel of life. If people stopped buying their games, then the EA staff would be happier?
