Is EA's xmas lineup destined to flop for the first time?

The Urbz, Sims In The City, and Lord Of The Rings:The Third Age have both bombed terribly at retail. The former sold one copy (gba version) on it's release day in the store i work at!

Despite EA's best efforts the public doesn't seem to be warming to Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, little has been said about this title and it currently has zero pre-orders.

I'm sure NFSU2 will shift boatloads to the chav scum this xmas, but apart from that, does EA have any big guns for Xmas this year? Last year MOH:RS, NFSU, SIMS Bustin Out , Lord Of The Rings : ROTK , SSX3 and Barry Trotter were all taking big numbers.

Looks like Halo 2 and GTASA have really overshadowed their xmas titles this year, and releasing MOH : PA so close to Half Life 2 is simply commericial suicide.

Need for Speed will sell incredibly well and FIFA continues to sell strongly as does Sims 2.

I've been a little surprised at how few copies of LOTR we've sold, as for Sims it's too early to say. So no, they'll be fine.

I'm personally more concerned that this weeks 2 best games (and probably years best games in PAL land), Paper Mario and Zelda: Minnish Cap, have had as much acclaim as they have sales.

The Urbz is getting massive TV ad's tho isn't it ?? That will help sway some Chav's to get a copy..........

EA had Burnout3 earlier in the year tho, I'm sure that made a lot more than it cost them to buy Criterion out. Theres also the LotR RTS game on the PC out in early December.
