FXM International Ltd, publisher of Official Xbox Magazine, Xbox Gamer and Official Xbox Magazine Special Editions, is offering the chance for six aspiring games journalists to take part in a four-week work placement on its portfolio of magazines. In addition to the opportunity to learn from some of the most senior games journalists in the business, the individual candidate who delivers the strongest performance during his/her placement will be considered for a full time position on one of FXM International’s market-leading magazines.
All work placements will take place at FXM International’s office at 99 Baker Street in central London. Successful applicants will be required to keep standard office hours of 9.30 to 6. Travel and subsistence expenses of ?100 per week will be paid. The placements will take place in two stages of three candidates each, beginning on the 26th May and the 23rd June.
These placements are open to anyone with a minimum age of 17 as of 1st May 2003. All applications are welcome, regardless of previous games experience or academic background.
To gain a place on the shortlist, applicants are required to write two submission essays. The first – no longer than 400 words – should be a review of the Xbox game Blinx. This review will be judged on its ability to entertain and inform the reader.
The second submission essay – no longer than 200 words – should outline why the candidate is interested in a job as a video-games journalist.
All applications should be accompanied by a covering letter and include a brief CV. Applications should be posted to James Ashton-Tyler at the address below to arrive no later than Friday May 9th.
