Dixons should have stock by the end of the week. They have taken massive numbers of pre-orders though, so whether they have free stock is hit-and-miss.

Does anyone know why there are people on Ebay paying over ?200 for a slimline ps2, not chipped or with games.

I wouldn't touch a slimline, they are garbage, even if they do have the network adapter.

Why on earth is there such a shortage of PS2s suddenly?
It's like the launch day all over again.
They've only been out... ohh... three years?

coz stores have stopped selling the "old" PS2s so slimline is the only ver you can get from most places and they've completely sold out due to both xmas rush and ppl from sites like here buying it coz it's new and smaller. Also I think sony have deliberately done this to keep hype for the machine running, they've managed to once again make PS2 THE must have console this xmas (and it's acctually it's 4th xmas ) leaving Xbox and GC once again fighting for scraps.

You have to hand it to Sony that they can make people go nuts over a product thats 3 years old.

How they've done it is debatable, but theres no denying they seem to have made the PS2 this Xmas's most desirable present ( and everyone thought it would be that dancing robot thingy )

I'm tempted to try and flog my standard PS2 on Fleece Bay for an extortionate price (around ?400 should do it )

haha I was thinkin the same, do it around the 18th a december as a 3 day listing with special delivery so it's gauranteed for xmas and who knows what might happen? You never can tell with desperate parents (remember the woman who paid ?400 for a "PS2 box" )
