Katamari Damacy, why oh why oh WHY

Just got back from New York, and I picked this up at Gamestop for $21.

What a disappointment. It looks like it could be such fun, if only it wasn't for the control system. Basically you have to wrestle with both analog sticks at once to roll the ball anywhere - it's just clumsy and extremely confusing.

Anyone else played the game? Any suggestions?

Katamari is one of the most refreshing games I've played in ages, it's just a joy all the way through.

it is one of the most innovative games I've played for ages, it's such a simple but fun game to play, and it can be really hard at times, but yet still alotta fun

I'm only a few levels into it because I've not got a jpn playstation atm, but as soon as I get mine for chrimbo it's gonna be played non-stop

Does the reasoning behind using this bizarre control system become clear? Is there a point?

I loved the dual control... it's like driving a tank! Made of rubbish! And teddy bears!

If you would like to trade it, I have some good games for trade.

Yeah the analog sticks become your arms, its a great system.

I hate the PS2 analog sticks and I never use them for any game unless I could help it so I thought the worst when I started to play KD, but it all become clear pretty quick.

Its supposed to be a struggle to push your ball especially once it becomes awkward it feels just like pushing a big ball .

Dont forget you can push in both sticks at once to flip to the other side of the ball - this helps a lot.

Can't say I've had a problem with the controls, but then again, I love Battlezone which is pretty much the same

Agree with everyone else, an absolute joy to play from start to finish. You've triggered off the soundtrack in my head again now...all together now...
                        nah nah nah....kata - mari - DAMACY!!

Keep at the controls Lyris, will become second nature after a while, did me in for a bit but they work so well once they click.

I found the controls a bit of a sod at first too, but once you get the hang of it, it feels very 'right'. The game as a whole was very refreshing; one of the more innovative games I have played lately, and it has a nice quirky theme going throughout, on top of a really great soundtrack. For the asking price you can't go much wrong.

Any game whose soundtrack references Wendy Carlos and has a dad who talks in scratch is worthy of man-butter.

Controls arew spot on, picked em up in a matter of seconds. What did you expect a monkey ball clone?

                              Adore this game
