    Party games

None of my friends are into gaming at all, but there's been a few occasions when I've managed to gather them for some multiplayer action. Super Monkey Ball with 4 players was awesome (bring some booze into the picture and you're all set). The co-op mode in Timesplitters 2 was fun as well.

I'm basically looking for games you can play before you go out and party, or co-op games that you can play while you sober up.
I don't like sports games, so that's not an option.

Which format are you after, or is it for all of them?

If you're after Xbox games then Halo and Halo 2 multiplayer is a great party game, as is Kung Fu Chaos, again on the Xbox.

For non-gamers I always think something easy to pick up and play is good.
Eye Toy is the ultimate party game - no previous knowledge required.
Light guns are always good for a laugh too.

And as for co-op (my specialist subject) Baldur's Gate, and Dark Alliance are easy as the control systems is 'move the direction you are pointing'... teaching non-gamers an FPS set-up is painful. The Baldur's Gate games are beautiful too, always a bonus. And you can save where you want, (iirc), which means a quick twenty mins here or there is easy.

        Just thought:
Circuit Breakers (PS1) still the best multiplayer game ever.

Wario Ware on the Cube. Best game I've ever seen to pull in non-gamers.

I only have a PS2 and GC nowadays, but feel free to suggest Xbox titles or games for any other console (in case anyone else is looking for similar games).

Monkey Race and Monkey Fight in Super Monkey Ball was hilarious with four players, so that's the type of game I'm after. How difficult is Mario Kart? I've seen some trailers and there seemed to be a lot of special moves going on. Anything too advanced will most likely scare them off.

I have one friend that I usually game with, and we've already covered games like F-Zero GX, Timesplitters 2 and Soul Calibur 2. It doesn't have to be a co-op game. Any game that you can play against each other or take turns playing will do just fine. Preferably a game that you can finish in one weekend.

I cant believe Donkey Konga hasnt been mentioned. Its more fun than a line of fun snorted up your nose.

Mario Party 5 is great fun in a group.

Got MP6 coming to me now and that has a microphone for voice control which should be a laugh.

I also have it on the way but have been told that if you like the other games this is the best one since 2.

Try Monkey Ball 2, monkey fight is much improved, as is monkey target (simultaneous 4 player mode now). monkey race is just as hilarious as ever.

The ultimate party game has to be Goldeneye though, mainly because most people will have played it before, and the gameplay is still better than most FPS's.

Samba De Amigo and the dance dance games get people interested. I'm fortunate to have 2 Sambas, so it's a right laugh.

Mario party 1 & 2 were good, after that i thought they lost their way a bit. Not played 6 yet though, don't think i can be arsed.

mashed(xbox or PS2), follow up to circuit breakers is truly excellent in 4 player and all my non gaming friends love it, still come round for beats even now!
