I feel like I'm playing a run-'n-gun-platformer, rather than fighting one. OK the camera isn't quite good enough, but that's pretty much the only flaw. Grabbing a fully powered shotgun and tearing through an entire wave of enemies in one blast is one of the years highlights.
Been meaning to buy this for some time as it reminds me of one of favourite sleeper games from last year Metal Arms GITS.Will have to wait till it gets dirt cheap before picking it up though.
    Bound to happen.Isnt it?

the worst thing they did was take away the press to talk on GR2. Now you hear every twat breathing in your ear, chewing their burgers or in one story I read about, taking a dump.

I'd say Samurai Warriors PS2. At first it seemed like a total "rinse & repeat" of Dynasty Warriors 3 (which would have been a huge step backwards for Koei) But once you start leveling up, and unlocking costumes, moves and stages it begins to shine. The implementation of the mission system really worked, and despite fears that the linearity would destroy the game, it gave battles an exciting edge, and the player a reason for racking up a kill score in the thousands.

This time next year I shall probably be hyping up Kessen 3 in a similar fashion.

                  Thief: Deadly Shadows

A worthy addition to the series. Get this, and the first two on PC for a pittance. They're among the greatest games ever conceived. Honest.

                    Paper Mario.

Its a true gem of a game and easy one of the best games of 2004, however with it being only on Gamecube a lot of the PS2/Xbox owner will have missed this gem. For the good player it has an easy 35 hours gameplay and it took me close to 40 hours to clock, however that was partly due to the pit and the cool minigames in the arcade.

                      Pitfall: The Lost Expedition

really enjoyed this back in febuary, wanted a new platformer for xbox, got this and sonic the same day, beat this twice, bored of sonic by 2nd zone.

                      Red Dead Revolver

while critically acclaimed didn't particularly sell great, an excellent 3rd person shooter dripping in atmosphere. like another great rockstar title...

                      Manhunt *XBVERS*

brilliant. totally engrossing till the end

                      Rallisport Challenge 2

best racer i've played in years...

                        Galleon.

Really enjoyed it. I always got the impression that the mags were just desperate for it to fail, for another DaiKatana. Difference with Galleon was (in my opinion) it was a really nice little game.

                          Second Sight

Bought it on a whim the week before Outrun 2 came out and didn't really get on with it. Forgot about it totally until I was at a loose end at the weekend and not too fussed playing any of my current playlist.

Ended up being pleasantly surprised by it overall... a nice mix of stealth and shooting with some entertaining telekinetic powers and a semi-decent story to boot.

Not the most taxing game ever but still a worthy way to spend 10 - 15 hours.

Visually it's marmite. I for one enjoy Free Radical's style even if it is low tech and as a stealth game I enjoyed it more than Splinter Cell because the creeping about isn't forced on you as much.

Still haven't finished it mind but I still reckon that it's a good title and perhaps one more people should try.

Absolutely. I think Second Sight was horribly under-rated; I wanted to submit a review of it but never got around to it. The problem is that it's at best a big fat seven, though at times peaking eight and definitely six-ish in moments.

The FR visual style works better in this than it ever did (for me) in TimeSplitters, and I think that the narrative is strong enough to work very well; there's some very subtle, *great* bits of characterisation going on in the cut-scenes, and whilst the twist at the end leads in one way to a result you may expect, it's certainly a surprise the way it's done.

Fun game - full of atmosphere, character, and fun moments. Some creepy ones too - the bit where I had to posess a guard to unlock a door, and as he started tapping on the computer, everyone told him he wasn't authorised to do that - as he was clicking on the right button, I saw the screen get covered in his own blood... and then I lost posession... and when I went into the room he was dead. Unsettling.

But yeah, it's dirt cheap now, and it's a great way to spend 12 hours. Once you get over the fact it's *not Psi-Ops* you'll be fine. It's certainly a very British game, I felt.

Oh, and best sniper rifle EVAH.

Trackmania - I remember seeing an edge small review and decided to track it down. Found it second hand in gamestation for ?3. Bargain of the year. It's addictive as hell and great fun. It's what Rome: total war is to RTS but to Racing games. If you like racers and puzzle games you have to check it out.

I really liked future tactics aswell.

I'd like to second Pitfall I picked it up with R-Type from woolies on buy 1 get 1 free, R-Type didn't even get a look in until I'd finished Pitfall. It was jus a pure fun platformer and something I find rare to come across now these games jus work better with a limited area to run around Rayman 2 being a great example. and back on Fable, I can't get into it either, picked it up on GameStations ?19.99 when bought with anything else offer.
