Biased Game sites

I have been reading various comments form different forums about X site (ign , say) being biased towards X company/console. I have seen pages bitching about the DS and pages bitching about the PSP. Since I am relatively new to games sites as such, could anyone HONESTLY comment on different sites' alliegences to certain companies...if indeed that even exists?

Would be nice to know from someone impartial just exactly what sites do which ompanies favours by ignoring faults of their consoles while nit picking others. Are there any bias free sites?

You'll never find a bias-free site, IMO. And their bias will somehow change depending on who you ask I saw one member of another forum say IGN was anti-Nintendo yet the day after, I read that IGN was anti-Sony

Even unofficial forums are very subjective (maybe moreso) because people will always have personal preferences. The best thing you can do is sort out the facts from the opinions, and ignore the fanboys who refuse to accept they might be wrong. Personally I rely on forums and listen to the opinions of people I know have similar tastes to mine, are relatively impartial, and I think I can trust. And even then I may disagree with them but I'll still consider their opinion

Most of this is just drummed up by people who are unable to accept the opinion of others, and instead use bias as a means to justify the difference in opinion. For example, Ive received feedback that is along the lines of because we didnt give Halo 2 a 10 we must hate the xbox/love Nintendo etc etc, but no mention of the points we raised in the review which qualified our decision on the game. To my mind a bias doesnt exist here, writers are taken on knowing full well being a multiformat site that its the games that matter not the platforms, Id be interested to hear from anyone whom feels otherwise though.

Id say that outright bias's are uncommon on the larger sites, but i cant help but get the feeling that some are 'influenced' in one way or another by certain elements, albeit more specific to individual games than platforms generally.

IGN does seem a bit anti-Nintendo though, but I think that is just because the editors of the Nintendo channels are just bleedin lazy.

As a forum I don't think you're biased at all. There's a good mix of opinions - some I agree with, others I don't. Some individuals may be biased, but that's going to happen anywhere, and those people are in the minority anyway

I don't read every review on the site but I don't think I've ever seen a biased review here. Opinions are ALWAYS backed up with fact - either in the review or elsewhere on the forum, and they're usually right (IMHO) Compared to the "pros" the amount of impartiality is very high
