PAL PSP Pre-Orders - GAME

Hi, Sorry this is in the wrong forum.

Just to let you guys know that GAME are now taking names down for pre orders. (I was the first in my local store in Bolton)

They are taking names so they have a idea of how many they are going to need. Also the chap said that there should be a official pre order sceam in the next few weeks like the PS2 Launch one. E.g pay your deposit, 1 per household.... When that starts they are going to contact everyone on the list to let them know and they get first dibs.

He wasnt sure if we were going to see a value pack but he but me down for one just incase and a copy of Ridge Racers.

No Prices as of yet, but im gonna get one anyway. Also he said they are doing a midnight opening ready for when it comes out.

You know what would be justice? - as people constantly refer to UK versions of handheld machines being PAL, Sony should add huge borders and slow everything down so it's all proper authentic!

Must admit I ordered my GameCube two days before launch and after queing up at midnight (sad I know) I was the first person in the shop to get their package. There was a lot of pissed off gamers in Bournemouth that night LOL

pre-ordered a loc from them in November (release was feb), ended up getting released in the march and i went in on a monthly basis to check up on my preorder and they said it was fine

come March

me: i've come to pick up my loc please
game: we dont have any in for pre-orders and game is now sold out
me: but i preordered it here
game:let me check our pre-order system

now this is a rolladex with little cards in it with the item you want and phone number

game: sorry you didnt get one as you didnt leave a deposit
me: what deposit, i was told my reward card was good enough in November when i offered to leave a deposit
game: yeah but it changed last month

manager: all i can do is apologise and offer the game alone for ?30 (which was the rrp)
me:feck off and stick this ****ty reward card right up your arse

i stormed out as i thru the card at him - proper little tantrum, but they did this with the original sb as well and i was assured it wouldnt happen again

thing that did annoy me was that guys were only buying to make a quick trick on ebay so in the end luckily a guy from ntsc-uk in livingston sold it to me for cost

Pretty soon the Jap price will be where it should be and we can all get one imported way before April - Who wants to stand outside game at midnight with all the casual gamers and teenagers ?

Admittedly I (and yourself Yoshi ) stood outside for our Halo 2 copies, but that can be excused due to the Worldwide release being synched, hehe. Wont be doing it again though.

With my DS shining at my side and a PSP en route as soon as the price drops a bit there is no need for this Game pre-order nonsense. Any true gamer or anyone with any sense will have a PSP/DS well before Game can FK up the UK PSP and DS releases.

What's the current price being rumoured?

I heard ?200 was doing the rounds for a basic unit (no software) a few weeks ago, which is a disgrace in my view

I'd be hoping for ?130 (basic) at the most.

If it ends up come March/April GAME and Sony are flinging those prices about, I'll be going import even if it costs me more.

Just out of principle at the over-inflation we see routinely in the UK.

That's what tipped me over the edge into ordering a Japanese one, even at inflated prices.

At ?180+ for what I assume is the "standard pack" at UK launch, cost is no reason to put off importing, even now.

As Yoshimax says above, fairly soon Sony should have enough units on Japanese shelves for the RRP to actually mean something - all becomes a moot point then.

Seriously, have a look at ebay just now and you'll see there are still plonkers with machines up at ?400 which simply won't sell as others are now putting them up and I reckon they're gonna start going around the ?200 mark WITH ridge racers.

Hmm - Now the only thing stopping me importing are the dead pixel concerns (although I reckon this is probably massively blown out of proportion !)

I'm tempted to wait a while before I get mine. I was planning on importing a US one or pre-ordering a UK one. But I don't want one with dead pixels so I want to check it out first. Which means going to a shop. Gah.
