    Power button

Just purchased a wavebird which enabled me to sit at the fathest reaches of the the living room which got me thinking wouldn't it be useful if there was a power button on the controller. Most remotes for AV equipment have a power button. Just wondered if anyone else would appreciate a power button on their game controller?

Yes absolutely, I really want the console makers to make consoles more like hi-fi seperates so you can integrate them nicely.

The Q has a remote, so couple that with the wavebird and your fully remote.

it could be quite good, but i always get up to unplug the stepdown transformer anyway.
so it wouldnt really make much difference to me.

Must agree with you on this one. The dread of leaving the transformer on overnight/day is a biggie. Bugger what happens to the house, it's my Q that I'm worried about. Pain in the arse though. And why no disk eject on the remote?

Hmmmm it would be a nice idea, but playing games like Mario Party 4 and other hectic games sometimes lead to me or others pressing the start button by accident and ruining the mini game (if it's a button basher).

So just imagine when you're all going crazy at the controller and you slip and turn the whole machine off.... not the best move.

If you have evox installed on your xbox and have autoboot disabled for games you can use in game reset to get back to the dashboard and switch the xbox off from there.

Yeah extreme button bashing could be problem but im sure they could have a safety switch or something.

Wow. Getting up and switching the machine on and off! It's a hard life, isn't it?

A power button on the controller would be a bad idea for the reasons already stated. You have to get up to switch games anyway, so I don't see why powering up/down would be any more irksome.

So what you're saying is that we need multi disc changers in our consoles to go with our remote controlled power buttons?

                      Good Idea!!!!

this topic was flawed from the beginning. But its nice to see an idea go through the process of being disected. Good example of teamwork well done chaps! /me pats every one on the back!

Maybe it would be better if they put "power off" as an option in games instead then you'd have to choose it as opposed to accidently pressing an off button.

Or just get a 4m long stick and use that to turn your console off.
