Games that have ruined your life...

Ok bit of a dramtic title but don't worry, I haven't lost my mobile. I've just got Half Life 2 working today and its so god damn good that I can't stop playing it. However I've got an essay due in tomorrow which I haven't started but I want to play more HL2 plus I'm procrastinating so much that I'm even created this topic.

But has there been a game you actually regret playing so much?? I mean a game you must love but in the end you regret playing it??

    No champ managers....

Everquest. In a somewhat more personal manner... a good example of where dating a gamer girl isn't always a good idea!

Counter Strike almost caused me to die from sleep deprivation, and lost me 3000hrs of my life

FFXI almost ruined my life, the first 6 months just gripped me to point where I never touched another game.

And no Halo 2 is slowing crippling me...

              But ruined my life? Nah

Pokemon. Blue version. Without a shadow of doubt the most addictive game I have ever played in my entire life. I played this at home, in bed, on the bus, in lunch, in school lessons, for whole weekends, until I had all 151 Pokemon, and a lethal squad of level 100 Pokemon. Even then I played it against friends just to mercilessly thrash them.

                ****ing good game that :P.

EDIT: Just found the game and my Gameboy, looked at the stats and found out that I spent over 250 hours playing it. Jesus christ.

                  Starsiege: Tribes.

I played Tribes for over two years, for the hell of it to start with, but rapidly moved on to tribe (...everyone was very picky about calling them tribes instead of clans) matches. The entire time I played in software mode (circa 20fps), and through a 56k modem, but by the end of it I managed to hold my own against most broadband users. In the process however, I brought myself to the brink of getting kicked out of college, and even as it was, my final grades suffered. Not something I'm very proud of.

I've steered clear of online gaming ever since, with the exception of Live on the rare occasions I have broadband access. I'm not wired for self-restraint, and the community aspect drags me in all too easily if I get started. God forbid I get hold of a copy of FFXI.

                    Champman

Maybe a little ISS/Pro Evo thrown in for good measure.

                    Champ kills.

                    One guy once said:

"You either have a life...........or you have champman".

                    Word.

No game has ever ruined my life really.

Although in a completly diffrent way, every time I go round one of my mates house we have to have a game of pro evo. I do like the game and watch and go to an occasional match of football but I sometimes dread going round his house! The words "Hello im trevor brooking and welcome..." are etched onto my brain.

                          It gives me nightmares.

During my last year of sixth form college when I should have been revising for A level exams I got hooked on a little game called Civilization 2 for the PC. I went from an B grade student to a D grade student within a few months. The game made me loose complete track of time and even when I realised how much time had passed in the real worked I couldn't stop playing it. Once I had completed one epic game, I decided to do the first few turns of a new game, with a few turns turning into a few hundred. This game destroyed my results to such an extent that in my last year of University I decided to ban computer games from my life for that year.

It never completly destroyed my life though. I now sell such games to unsuspecting students and the public for a living.

not ruined my life, but i played counter strike for 5 years, without a break...

It probably ****ed up my alevels some, but it was a laugh, and i still got into the uni i wanted.
