    Zelda: Four Swords

I was going to buy Zelda: Four Swords until i read it's better in a multiplayer and not very much so in single player mode. I love the Zelda games, but none of my mates have GBA's (or SP's). There is no way i'm putting out for multiple GBA's, not to mention the game itself.

Cheers Nintendo you've well and truly screwed me and many others for multiplayer sessions, Congratulations.

What are you're views on this type of multiplayer gaming i.e. one game, multiple devices?

    Cheers

How have they screwed you? Have they sent a crack deathsquad around to your house to force you to buy it, or something?

Its a nice dream, the whole gang gathering round to play with their various Nintendo products in practice tho you have a game which many people will never get to fully experience and enjoy.
One players not a total bust tho but it became like eating nuts, you just keep going back because *meh* its not totally bad for you and it dosnt fill you up so you've got room for dinner.
      Dinner being Resi 4

Haven't tried it on multi-player, but I got more than my money's worth of enjoyment from the single-player mode alone.

To be honest the_dude it was a bit of a stupid question. Are you screwed every time a 4 player game doesnt come with 3 free joypads?

The game is made to take advantage of a specific setup and makes accomodations for single player too. It actually works well in single player - some people even prefer it that way maybe you should give it a try.

Heh, telling E. Randy Dupre to ?calm down? is a little childish considering it was you with ?Cheers Nintendo you've well and truly screwed me and many others? in your opening post o_O

              Anyhoo?

Four Swords + is an excellent single player experience and doesn?t require 2-3 others to enjoy it imo. It doesn?t play like previous Zelda title in the sense of being set around a hub world? but? it?s kinda like each new area on the map is one big dungeon.

It was one of the better Gamecube games of last year (well, in the US and Japan) and as rjpageuk says, i actually prefered it in single player. Definitely should give it a try

              As for multiplayer gaming?

Four swords isnt purely a multiplayer game so I think what Nintendo have done is excellent? allowing me to play and enjoy a great single player on my larry or with a friend(s)

FF CC on the other hand?

FF CC is a great game initially? but quickly becomes apparent that it requires more then one soul, unlike Zelda Four Swords + (the game boy game is different tho... that purely requires that you play with others. Was excellent though at the meet)

Cheers all, thanks for your reply's. I'll consider the single player? But it would've been nice on Multiplayer though.

I really must give up baiting idiots

Anyway, it's not actually between the lines. Y'see, you're not being screwed. You've not bought the game. Even if you had, you still wouldn't have been screwed, because it's still perfectly playable without the four GBAs. Either way, Nintendo haven't negatively affected your life. You might as well complain about not being able to find everything in Wind Waker because it didn't come packaged with a GBA and link cable.

By the way, I'd suggest learning how to properly punctuate your posts before making comments about the intelligence of others. Otherwise you kind of leave yourself open to looking like a bit of a dick. And that's when the ignore function comes in useful.

I think its great, pretty much everyone I know whos in to games has a gba anyway so its not a problem for me. Wouldn't say they screwed anyone its not like they didn't tell you every time the game was mentioned that you need gbas for the multiplayer. Could be worse they could have released an alleged game of the year named after a stupid GCSE physics term that was un-playable till about 6 months later when all the horrible bugs were ironed out so it could actually play for 5 minutes without crashing.

If you havent already Mr, the best thing to do is take a little lookie at the ntsc-uk review...

                        Clicky!!

                        edit. oh, just noticed this
And then there is Tetra Trackers...
                        - that was taken out of the English version. Shame, because it was so incredibly mad you couldnt not love it

Also... think it should be noted you can play the single player alone without the use of a GBA... but, meh, thought it was far more cooler using the little handheld (firing an arrow on the TV screen and then seeing it appear on the GBA screen was a particular "woah" moment for me, heh)

                        ^_^

                          1. 4 Swords in Single Player is still better than 90% of other games,

                          2. Multiplayer couldn't exist without GBA's. You need seperate screens for various things throughout the game, the GBA is the easiest way.

In single player I found it all rather clunky, it obviously wasn't designed to be played that way. They made it work, but only just.

Even adding just one more player transforms it into one of the best games of last year.

You see? I didn?t find that Mr Kotatsu Neko sir.

I found it never felt as fun playing with others. Admittedly it did feel more ?natural? within the games? mechanisms? but for me personally I didn?t enjoy it as much. I suppose that is mainly due to I love spending as much time as possible in games exploring freely, randomly hitting things, experimenting, talking to NPCs, but once there were other players on screen, overly keen to progress, I felt rushed and unable to explore without restraint?
