Yeah the date seems OK, I think there was some unofficial announcement mentioning the 25th so the 18th is only a week earlier. Just wondering whether Amazon cocked up by announcing the date before Sony had a chance to.

Amazon state there's no official release date, and that release dates are subject to change. However, I've decided I'm not going to buy one based on the review on the site.

The entertainment side that sony are pushing about the PSP is rubbish the films cannot be shown at dvd quality. they are *near* dvd quality wow! this is rubbish. The ds on the other hand can also play music at 16 channel stearo sound. As well the DS can play video and films at full DVD quality!!!!! Now this is truely good. One thing that sony forgot when they were making the PSP was ORIGINALITY i'm sorry to break it to you sony freaks but it is obvisiously rubbish. One last thing that I forgot to mention before was the lack of GOOD GAMES compared to the DS and the expensivness of it in comparison because so far the only thing the PSP has on the DS is slightly better graphics so its price tag of ?180 does not coompare with the only thing it has on the DS. So in conculsion i would save the extra money and buy a DS.

I'm still wondering if we're ever going to have a PSP or DS topic without mentioning the opposite in the same thread.

They're both aimed at different audiences and have various strengths and weaknesses. Handheld fanboyism has taken on an altogether different degree - at the moment it's even worse than when the Playstation and Saturn brigades were at each other's throats.

I wonder how he believes the DS can play films at dvd quality when the screen doen't have a resolution capable to display it. Nor does the PSP. You'd need something like 600 by 480p min.
