    Edge Magazine: Time Extend

I know there are quite a few Edge readers on these boards, majority of you living in the UK. I was curious what you all thought of the Time Extend articles that have been towards the back of each issue. Zelda: Majora's Mask, Eternal Darkness and recently, Shenmue have all been featured.

I miss their look back at semnial classics articles, but these have helped me get over that loss. These are great reads, and are quickly becoming my most anticipated section of each issue.

What games do you hope get this treatment in the future? And, would you purchase a retro issue made up entirely of these articles?

I'd like to you see Sin & Punishment and Radiant Silvergun. And I'd order a full-blown issue in a second.

    Yoshi's Island. Easily.

As for buying the full issue - I probably would. It'd have to be the normal EDGE price though...

Personally, I much prefer the current 'Time Extend' to the old retro reviews - where Edge would often examine games that were released fifteen or twenty years ago that I can barely remember or haven't played before. Time Extend seems somewhat more relevant looking back over the course of the last few generations on the games which matter.

It also helps that much of the writing in that particular part of the magazine is of a more in-depth quality to the review's section too.

Jet Force Geminii. That game ruled and was stupidly hard.

Wow! I can't believe I forgot about this one. One of my all-time favorite games, and it slipped my mind. I would love to see a time extend on Jet Force more than even Sin & Punishment.

I don't want to turn this into a Jet Force thread, but I'm tempted to. What a soundtrack. Beating that game put hair on my chest. Sadly is was probably the last phenomenal game Rare made.

How can we make Edge hear our cries?

I understand your preferance, but weren't those reviews on Mario, Final Fantasy, Assult Suit Valkyrie and Golden Axe fun to read? I really miss those reviews. I was hoping for Kid Icarus, Metroid and Gunstar Heroes.

However, given a choice, I'd choose the current Time Extend articles.

I was sorry to hear Prince of Persia is the most recent game. I was hoping to see more N64, Dreamcast or even a Saturn title.

Not if Conker's BFD was released after, which I do believe it was. That game was bloody phenomenal, and pissed all over Jet Force in multiplayer mode at any rate.

And yes, I have completely completed Jet Force. Agree about the fantastic soundtrack btw

I loved Conker, but Jet Forces dedicated gameplay (that being a third-person shooter) was, I think a better oveall experience.

I never played either of the multiplayer, so I can't argue that point.

I guess we all agree Jet Force deserves an Xbox sequel. Imagine a online co-op mode.

Personally, I would like Edge to continue with Time Extend on more recent videogame releases from the Saturn, Playstation, Dreamcast and N64 platforms. They have more relevance for me and would bring greater enjoyment.

I was worried when EDGE changed there style thinking it was the end of the magazine but it's just what the magazine needed. I throughly read every page now whereas before I read the reviews along with Biffo vision and read the rest when I was bored.

The time extended feature is without doubt one of the best parts of the magazine now and I really am looking forward to reading the sands of time article. My favourite games I would love to see covered are Ico, GoldenEye, Metal Gear Solid, Super Mario 64, Soul Calibur and Sonic Adventure.

I doubt they'll do one on Mario 64, being that they just reviewed Mario DS. But Golden Eye and Perfect Dark defenitely deserve the treatment.

I'd write to Edge, but I never get a response and it feels like a waste of time. Perhaps if we all agreed to mass email them on our enjoyment of Time Extend.

I'm glad to see so many of you like it.
