Ok, so its not a console game, but has anyone played this yet?

Massively multiplayer Elite type shennanigans sounds pretty cool to me but having tried Everquest years ago and being really disappointed I'm loathe to invest anymore time and money into an online game until hearing how its more than just a graphical chat room (sorry any Everquest fans but beating rats with sticks to level up is just no fun).
