    Bafta Game Awards 2004/05

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4308315.stm

Whilst most of it appears to be predictible (Half-Life 2), Prince of Persia: Warrior Within winning best Gamecube games was a bit of a surprise. Am I the only one who thinks Ubisoft might have been the only people who managed to get their voting slip in for this one?

Nice to see Half-Life 2 picking up some more awards it deserves. Shame that San Andreas seems to have been universally ignored critically by the powers that be. It was also an immense game from last year in terms of execution of design.

Half Life 2 won 'best online game'?

        Very curious.

It always seems strange seeing these lists from an importers POV.

Damn Concept's incessant pimping of San Andrex

Hmm, have they not heard of Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, Pikmin 2 or Paper Mario?

WRC4 didn't win either of its 2 categories.

              *cries*

No, they'd rather give the Gamecube award to a 3rd party game that's available on every other console.

Well sod the negativity...we won one...w00h00!

(Mobile: Bluetooth Biplanes - Morpheme Wireless Ltd)

Though admittedly some were very odd choices as mentioned earlier...

Most of the voters probably don't even have Cubes, so just voted for the game they'd played on their own machine.

Which is probably an XBox, given that "Best PS2 game" was Burnout 3.

All members of the judging panel are provided with copies of all the nominees. It's a bit like the 'screener' dvds that the people judging the film awards get.

In fact, one of the conditions of nomination is that you have to provide all the screener copies to the judges.

Unless the rules have changed since 2000 (last time something I worked on got a nomination).
