So, Ive finally bought a PSP..

.. any bets on how long it will be before I sell it?

Like the GBASP was in its time, the PSP is a fabulous peice of kit, and no doubt will do me good whilst Im away in darkest Hull for three weeks via a work project. But typically the interest in handhelds is short lived for me, and once Ive cained Ridge I expect Ill be visiting the Trade forum soon after. Or is the PSP different, with enough to grab even the most casual handheld gamer? Who knows, perhaps this time the buzz will last

Kinda defeats the purpose of a handheld to sell it when you're not getting much use out of it. Who knows when you'll next have some crappy business trip or boring holiday to go on. I rarely use my GBA but when I do it's a godsend.

My PSP gets the vast majority of my play time and it will only get more as more games arrive for it.

      I it

        Wipeout Pure, Wipeout Pure.

If they mess it up I will personally visit the studio and give them all a right good kicking.

I barley played my GBA/SP but now find myself with both DS & PSP - PSP (ridge) has had the lions share of play since its arrival a month&half after DS. It's great when she's watching hollyoaks and other pish on the telly - just stick in the (essential anyway) headphones and I'm away ! brilliant.

From what I hear on the Wipeout forum, Pure is shaping up to be pretty special. The fact that they hate Fusion is a good sign, for a start...

Hopefully they'll do a NAMCO and bring it back in line a-la Tekken - This is my next must have for PSP after Ridge (still caning that)

too bad pj coz i aint selling it! I love this thing, it looks amazing , is cool as a fool in a swimming p..p..poo...pool, and ridge is truly the dogs testicals. i have vampire hunter also but its still wrapped, coz ridge is taking all my psp time. This, and my hp ipaq, have put me in gadget heaven right now. Only problem i have is my thumbs going numb after extended play, but it sure beats the hell out of any other portable games device at the moment.

And i haventeven began to explore the av possibilities yet either..

I can honestly say that over the past 4 years the console that has had the most play out of it has to be the GBA. I don't know if this is because I'm a retro whore or a handheld whore, I'm sure the PSP will answer that question.

It's too early to judge and there aren't that many titles available yet, although if RR is anything to go by I'd say I'm definately a handheld whore.

I really have to resist when I'm in America next month - I don't want to end up taking my PSP for the long-ass plane journey and then end up using it for the entirity of the trip. I think it'd be best if I left my charger at home.

EDIT: Is it me or does marcus sound more like a normal member here now? I'll have him shouting 'dead good' in no time whilst comenting on the size of his dad's nob resulting in his posts being edited by Camps. Either that or he's had a couple to drink.

Maybe because the GBA has had a better hithit ratio than any of the other consoles doing the rounds, or the best of its games generally have greater depth and more to bring you back to them than anything else? It doesn't necessarily have to be anything to do with the hardware's handheld nature.

Probably. I must have put in over 2,500 hours on the bast! (Advance Wars 1+2, F-Zero etc) Scary stuff really. No hardware problems as of yet compared to the 50 or so hours I've put into the PSP. (dust behind screen issue)

It's coz it's got perfect pick up and play value, something most home console games are losing. Thats the thing that excites me the most about DS and PSP, not far off home console graphics, but hopefully with a pick up and play factor that makes games great for 5 mins or 5 hours.

wonder how long it will take until the psp breaks?

Just don't drop it on the floor, or let kids play on it, or let people who try to clean the screen with their fingers have a go either. I don't like it that the psp is so fragile, my gba or neo geo pocket can be dropped on the floor many times and still work as if nothing happened. Handheld consoles are meant to be durable, i would be scared of taking a psp out in case i drop it, kind of goes against the point of hand held gaming.

Doesn't matter though because if the psp GTA game is any good i'll be sold

So you woulnt buy a PSP in case you dropped and broke it? Cant say I ever considered that, with a unit as valuable and essential as this Id make damn sure I took good care of it. When its not in my hands, its in its protective case. The same goes for my similarly delicate Ipaq, you just make extra effort to look after them thats all, and I would say thats not reason enough not to buy one really.

You'd have to be a proper bellend to drop it, frankly. It comes with a frigging wrist strap.
