Harvest Moon DS - March 17th!

just saw some new shots on magicbox here

Looks very much like the GBA one but i can imagine the use of the stylus would make the experience less of a chore(for some bits). Hope its as good and better than the GBA one, oh, and quickly bring on the english version! i simply can't wait!

Bit annoyed it's so much like the GBA version - they could have tarted this up a bit. Still, like you say the touch screen will work really well with this type of game.

I thought that was the US release date for a minute. Which would have been a bit upsetting because I only rebought the GBA game yesterday. It looks like a good graphical update similar to the Wind Waker update of LttP that Four Swords looks like.

I think they tend to concentrate on improving one thing at a time when they make a new harvest moon game, the GBA version had almost exactly the same story and events of the ps1 game.

I wonder how they'll use wireless connectivity in this one. Hopefully it'll be more than swapping identical cows between carts, like in my old GBC version

Is it actually the same game as the GBA one?

I don't mind at all that's it's 2D, in fact I'm glad it is. 3D for the sake of 3D is never a good thing, and games like Harvest Moon have no use for it.

The DS line-up is really looking great now. With Meteos and PacPix due soon, then Pac N Roll, Bomberman, Harvest Moon, Nanostay, MarioKart, Animal Crossing, Viewtiful Joe, Zelda Four Swords, Metroid Hunters, Castlevania, Nintendogs... plus no doubt many announced at E3... My wallet is really going to take a hit.

I hope it isn't basically the same game as the GBA version, which in turn was pretty much identical to the PS1 and N64 versions.

Can't wait for this. Unlike the psp the ds line up is looking stronger by the day

In response to the comment about it being the same as the PSOne/N64/GBA games, Harvest Moon suffers from the same problem Zelda does in that it is essentially the same game each time only with minor differences. It is also a bit too genteel to implement a ruthless aquisition business where you earn the most profit and drive your rivals out of business like Transport Tycoon so I cannot see how it will be much different.

Wow, that's a big sweeping statement about Zelda there! I would agree with you on Harvest Moon, but not Zelda. There's a lot more than 'minor differences' in each Zelda game.

Harvest Moon on the other hand - well, I loved Harvest Moon and yet I found the GBA version totally unsatisfying. Weird thing is, I have no idea why. I got so much more enjoyment out of the GBC versions. Maybe it's just that I got too familiar with it. I really hope they do add some new features this time around but the fact that it looks so much like the GBA version doesn;t fill me with hope.

                      Dogg.

The gba version was just a conversion of the ps1 version that suffered from horrible loading times which itself was just an update of the original. I seriously doubt that it is a conversion of the gba version, (more likely to be a update of havest moon 2 on the n64) whatever version it is based on however i'm sure it will rock. Harvest moon is one of the best videogame series ever made, magical, imaginative, and just pure gaming, every game has been worthwhile even the ps1 version with its tedious loading times i found enjoyable, i'm sure this won't differ.

Anyone know when the english language version will be released?

I think shearing sheep with the stylus will become very boring very quick

Yeah. But in theory, everything you do in Harvest Moon games should become boring very quickly. The genius is that it usually doesn't.
