    Score/Time Attack problems

Is anyone else like me when it comes to score and time attack games? The second you do something wrong in your play pattern that would mean your time or score will be ruined once you have finished, you hit Pause, Exit and start again. Over and Over.

I find I then start to go off the game rather than enjoying it, as my ultimate aim is to try and get the perfect play to get the better score or time.

Anyone else know what I mean? Is it normal behaviour?

LOL, it's perfectly normal m8, I do exactly the same as you when I want to get an highscore (with games like Gradius V, OutRun2, etc) , it's like one hunderd restarts before finishing it the way I can be "satisfied" ...

Ikaruga springs to mind, and yes I'm the same, even with driving time trials.

Speaking of time trials, I'm really pleased that GT4 has made it a bit of a pain to restart time trial laps for the current competition. Normally I'm the sort that aborts and restarts whenever I stuff a corner up, too, but because I'm effectively being forced to go round again and try another lap (plus it isn't punishing me with tyre wear even on soft tyres) I'm practising the whole thing, rather than just the bit that is winding me up.

Haha yes! I just got off Metal Slug 3 on the Xbox, and finishing the 2nd level with all the hostages without dying is driving me mental - one flaw, and it's back to the title screen to do it all again.

Bloody xbox live scoreboards... excellent game though, anyway.

I think that game in particular suffers the most from pause/restart syndrome. It absolutely demands you to play to perfection.

If a driving game's TA mode has infinite laps, I don't bother restarting, I just complete the lap and try again next time round.

1080 and 1080 Avalanche. Just sit there trying to get the perfect start. Over and over. Annoys Lucy no end.

That was an example I could have given! I sometimes get the start "off" 6 or 7 times and jut flick pause and restart each time. Does my own head in but I won't bother without a perfect start!
