Sky News take on the DS

Did anyone watch the ' Gadget Show Channel 5' the other day. They dismissed the DS as cheap and tacky, favouring the PSP saying it is fantastic in every way and will go down as a design classic.
Both guys were mid 40's and one said he would be buying his young daughter a PSP because the DS is just flimsy crap.
I like both machines, and the show made me angry.ft:

Good review, sums up how I feel about the machine.
I'd love to see them fix the DS form factor, make it as tiny as possible, make it feel like a quality product. Kind of strange how Nintendo were able to make the Gamecube so small (compared to it's competitors), and yet the DS has ended up like a breezeblock. (well, almost)
The cost of rushed development I suppose.

I don`t think it even looks that ugly tbh. Ok so the plastic is abit tacky compared to the psp but on the flip side at least it doesn`t show all your fingerprints. Plus they got the design pretty much spot on with the L/R buttons well placed, clam shell design for screen protection and well placed speakers. Only thing i don`t really like about the design is that the sides dig into your hands slightly. Besides that, it does it`s job well.

It does the job, and it's good value for money though.
Ninty have already hinted they are revising the design. I hope they are, not just for selfish reaons of wanting something smaller but also as I think it would really help them against PSP. Already reviewers are writing off DS as being cheap looking, ignoring it's innovations and great games.
