I've the saturn version, best dam 30quid i've ever spent.

    Huge game btw.

Being in japanese i didn't follow any story, but the premise of the game is given in English! weird for a game never released outside Japan to include so much english text!

The menu system is straight forward and you'll have no problem understanding it.

You play Alucard(Dracula backwards girls and boys) a vampire and it's pretty much RPG fare really, exp points, attaining better equipment, money, artifacts etc, but all nicely roled into a quality platformer.

Best bit for me is when your franticly trying to navigate out of tricky situations, and your pressing the D-pad like no bodies business, you unwittingly open up & learn special moves!

You can morph into different things as well, just to add a little something to the mix.

You can't go wrong, the PSX version is apparently better graphically, but the saturn version comes with an extra playable character and a few new areas within the game to explore.

    S'up to you.

For reference, Official Sega Saturn Mag give it 95% when it was released all those moons ago.

its a remake of an old castlevania game that was only got a release in japan i think

not as good as the sotn or the new gba ones, and if your going to get sotn the psx one is supireor to the saturn one, even though this version has extra charicters it has glitchy graphics and quite a bit of slowdown quite strange really as the saturn is a 2d console,

the gba versions are really good try them out you can pick them up quite cheep as well if you look around

PAL Symphony Of The Night isn't going to be cheap anywhere; I've been keeping an eye out for one for a mate, but I've yet to see it less than ?50. It was only released in the UK as part of a deluxe limited edition set with score cd etc, so you're probably going to be better off (unless you actually want all those extras) getting a US one on price.

I've been following the series since SNES and can honestly say hand on heart that PSOne SOTN is one of my all time favourite games, truly a joy to play.

Just bought Aria of Sorrow too but cant manage to sneak a quick go without the boss nabbing me ...

i just played a castlevania game on my DC*(emu) castlevania bloodlines! i wasnt impressed i guess its not t the best in the series, but the game is sooo repetitive. Wheres the rpg elements from castlevania 2!? anyway i will give the dracula chronicles ago while i save for SOTN.

My favourite is Castlevania III on the NES. Also fact fans, did you know that the Japanese cart has different (and better) music than the US/PAL versions. Have a little listen:

                    Japanese Version
                    US Version

That Aria of SOrrow is certainly one dam fine game, if a tad too short.

The soul system is excellent, but what struck me most was the quality of dialogue. And that art is going to be a wallpaper very soon. I'm still trying to get the Sky Fish soul little bugger.
