Well I have to say I have had little experience of these problems renting from my local stores and I usually buy films I like anyway.

I do remember one occasion I rented the entire series of the Sopranos season 2 though and every disc in the set was screwed so some persons DVD player has progressively ruined the whole box set.

I took it back to be told they only had one copy of the series on DVD so that was my entire weekend of Sopranos goodness stopped right in its tracks.

Went out and bought it the next day

Read somewhere (cant remember where ) that theyre producing self destructing dvds for rental that only last 2 days before becoming unusable. Hopefully will solve the problem of having to clean curry/beer off rentals.

      *edit* ahh found it.

is it just me or do dvds scratch a lot more easily than cds
Wouldn't it have something to do with the higher rate of compressed data on a DVD in comparison to a CD that would mean a more minor scratch would have more disasterous results?

I know Dreamcast GD-ROMs would be rendered useless by even a minute scratch because it happened to me enough times.

The original poster is actually right. I am a regular on an Xbox forum, and the Bourne Identity, rental version, will not work on any Xbox.
