Someone mentioned that the games industry is circular in nature. If that's the case, then think of Sega back before the start of the Master System days - they were concerntrating primarily on the arcade scene and doing some porting all of these games to just about every home system. That's where they seem to be now, so in five years or so we may see a return to form for Sega when they were at their prime during the days of the Mega Drive, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
It is depressing to see such a stellar bunch of developers be forced into producing mediocre titles, but hopefully that spark that made Sega such a force to begin with will return in time and financial security.
