Oh man, I stumbled on this absolute fantastic post of yours, and seeming as i have **** all else to do at this time of the morning, i thought i would make a great big long post to basically, rip the piss out of your ignorance.

There i was at 6:15am, talking about the need for fighting games to be updated to address balances, and the need for them games to be tweaked. Oh man, it was a masterpiece of a post, i even went through the ages of SF...explaining all the problems with your "loved" SF2CE, and how they were addressed in later versions.

I had examples of bull**** from CE like the Ken 4hit dragon punch combo's, the Zangief SPD combo grabs, M Bison unblockables and other highly fun (read: CRAP) techniques you could do. I even remember chuckling to myself when i came up with this random image!

"Techniques so easy to do, that anyone could continue to do them till the cows came home, had some tea and biscuits, watched Eastenders then went upstairs for a wank."

        Well, i laughed...

That was put somewhere where i was explaining the priority abuse, and damage scaling on some moves and combos which made the player doing them practically untouchable.

I even explained things such as fireball\SRK traps, tick throws...then basically in a nutshell explained how games made after CE took these problems and tried to sort them out to make the games more fairer and enjoyable. I went and explained how SF3 was the culmination of years of feedback from developers and players who played this game, to try and make it the most balanced fighter out there.

Parries to stop fireball spammers, Air parry to stop dragon punch heroes, overheads to stop constantly blocking players, throws and throw escapes...awwww, it was truley a great post if i do say so myself.

BUT OH NOES, an electrical fault occured which flicked the electricity off from the mains downstairs, DELETING MY POST! >_<;;; I couldnt be bothered to retype it again, as i am sure it wouldve been wasted on you anyway.

So after all that, what i am really is saying is, you know nothing, please STFU.

        OR

Take a long look at your post, and the few who have gone out of their way to respond to your lameness...then look at this thread http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=30711 or type in Street Fighter into the search button. Yes, we are all mad playing this "crap" game.

You live in Birmingham, if you like, i would happily show you how much depth and fun this game has compared to Street Fighter games of old. It is the most refined Street Fighter made, and is considered along with VF4:Evo\VF4:Tuned to be one of the most balanced games out.

Also, i could try and shatter your fond memories of SF2CE by doing phycho crusher spam into throw all day long, SPD combos which take 50%health or Ken fireball spam\Dragon Punch ...HOURS of fun!

If you have Xbox live, dont hesitate to add peoples gamertags from the above thread. You can also play Hyper SF2 and select your SF2CE characters on it.

Also, about these added bells and whistles, how exactly do these effect you if you have no knowledge of them? You can play SF3 like SF2 CE if you like, just dont expect it to work on everyone you play. The "bells and whistles" are added to give people somthing new to learn if they wish, and to give the game more depth and evolve the series to stop the game becoming boring and stale. Its the same with every game genre, you are not forced to learn anything, you can get as little or as much out of the game engine you want.

Give it a go before assuming they have "ruined" street fighter, so you actually have some basis for your point.

I bought my RAP from play-asia for about ?40. With shipping and import duty it came to ?90ish, (PA only listed couriers for the stick, I guess because it's heavy).

Even at ?90 it's well worth the money, (although I'm sure some of the ppl round here can source you one for less).

SFIII 3rd Strike is without doubt my favourite 2D fighter but I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of advanced techniques. I think that'd change pretty quickly if I got the Xbox version (great excuse to get one of those heavy duty SF Anniversary Arcade Joysticks) and started playing online as I'd imagine that's a great environment to learn loads.

Speaking of which, is the xbox release any better than the Dreamcast version in terms of gameplay additions or technical tweaks?

Street Fighter 3 has more mind games in a decent match than any other game out there. I don't know any other game thats such a perfect mix of skill, style and tactics. I don't get how anyone could dislike this game. I picked up a Hori stick for this too and at first I found it next to impossible to use but the more you use it the better you get and the more you'll enjoy being able to play the game at it's fullest so good look with your HRAP I will say though that playing in a proper arcade is miles ahead of even playing on xbox live so if you ever get a chance to play the real thing go for it.

As an aside where is everyone getting those cool cartoon SF3/KOF avatars? I saw a big page full of them in Games TM but I can't find any website with them.

I was reduced to begging Yashrio is make me an avatar to get one. Have a search though the Online SF3 thread for info, I think someone also posted a link to a load of them in there somewhere.

Another SF-fanboy, here... To me, nothing beats parrying a multi-hit super the opponent activated with that "I'm catching you off guard"-attitude and striking back with a combo, canceled into a super of you own, plus a juggle while the opponent is falling from the last hit of the super. Now that not only looks stylish (thanks to the great animations), it also utilizes both tactical and technical depth.

I'd really like to try out SF3 on live (I'm playing the PS2 version), does anyone know if a US Xbox would work with the Europe Live kit? Maybe with a modchip?

It's all starting to come together now. I've been playing solely as Ryu on the hardest difficulty setting and some of the fights have been amazing. The flurries of blocks, parries and hits just from normal moves remind me of Jackie Chan action sequences.

I'm trying to find and practice combos, knee to the ribs cancelled into a Dragon Punch cancelled into SA1 is quite satisfying, but I can't keep myself away from Ryu's toward-Hard Punch double hitting dash-punch. There's something special about stopping someone's charging assault with a double hit to the guts. Dudley is especially fun to fight against as one frame he's idling half a screen away, the next his fist is inspecting your internal organs. Bam-bam!! Don't think so Duds!

I wish there was an arcade around here

I'd love to get into this game but it's just never happened for me I played it to a basic level but it was destroyed for me by a lack of human opponents/time to practise

It's a superb game though, just one that I missed the boat on and will have to forget about until I can dedicate the time to it that it needs
