I once sold ten boxed Pokemon Stadiums (Stadia?) at GameStation, regardless of their "one copy of each game" policy.

I too used to go down the Brum CEX as often as I could up to '97. Compared with that was on offer in West Bromich (some bloke down the market selling 2nd hand Amstrad/Commodore/Spectrum/Master System games) it was super exotic. Still remember getting a tamagotchi from them for stupid money...

Then sometime in '96 the staff took some kind of drug and turned super rude (I remember being kicked out of the shop and banned (not that they remembered) because I offered to buy something off someone who was pissed off at how little they were offering him....

Not been there since Gamestation opened in '97 and then moved down South and I still use Gamestation for everything PAL.

My best CEX staff moment came when I decided to trade in 6 copies of Xevious on the GBA.

Cex: "Why have you got so many copies?"
Me: "That's none of your business [said in a friendly tone]"
Cex: "Well you either tell me now bruv or I won't take them"
Me: "Ok then, because I bought that many copies"
Cex: "Oh"

I took Marvel Vs Capcom 2 on the DC in to trade at the Brum branch, they offered me about ?15 part exchange (the week before I'd paid ?60 for it elsewhere) which I politely declined - some guy stood next to me offered ?30, which I took. The staff didn't seem at all bothered, TBH. Obviously you got someone on a bad day!

There's been so many 'fat dudes' working at Brum CEX I'm hard pushed to remember who you mean. Although I didn't start visiting the branch until about 1997 so the staffer in question had probably moved on to KFC by that point.

A word of CEX support here from me.

I've bought lots of import titles and old games that I've been looking for at CEX in the past and all at very reasonable prices. Vib Ribbon for ?4 stands out.

It's the only high street retailer where you can pop in and browse a selection of NTSC titles for a decent price, got US Manhunt for a tenner. Shame about the lack of Nintendo stuff and the lack of foreign DVD's now.

Their new import stuff is ridiculously expensive but the older stuff is fine. There's always some businessman coming back from work with more money than sense so why not?

Anyone on this forum that buys brand new import stuff from there desrves to be banned for not being able to use the internet very well.

Hope they don't close because then we're just left with a bunch of chains selling rip off PAL games.

However just round the corner I have recently discovered Game Focus...
that shop is sick and there's a cool little arcade round the corner with a load of cool fighters, Metal Slug 4 and some new Jap shmup

nice shop but lets be fair the prices they want are just mad

bangaioh was ?40 without spine and i got one from ebay for just over ?10

importers in the UK are still charging a premium - the internet is the place to buy
