Only having the GC version, I was wondering how you lot felt the other extra characters are and if they suit the game or not. Does spawn really fit in the game well?

Originally posted by SidezSpawn is ok, he has some nice moves in which he will chuck his axe up then bring it crashing down. His projectiles are useless unless you're playing against the computer (they take a second to charge up and don't track). Easily my favourite of the three, his Japanese voice is so badass.
Now that some pics have come in showing Xbox Live for SC2 @ E3, what dya reckon of them giving him his cloak?

Originally posted by Sidezbtw I would never touch the western SC2, the English voices are horrendous.
I mean, it's not like you really needed to say that... I mean, it's just a thinly veiled version of "I've got the Japanese version, which justifies my existance". Or something...
But then again, I would never ever touch in case the Japanese version. After all, the cellophane is just going to be crawling with bugs after it's long plane trip. Legionairres disease and all of that. Plus I'm sure it's import holiness would burn my non-hardcore hands.
Heh.

edit: Just added a smiley, in case anybody thought I was being in any way serious in any shape or form. Does anybody else think that Smilies are wrecking written sarcasm? I can spot it at 20 paces without it being flagged up (and/or faxed) to me in advance.
It's one of those innovations that makes us lazy...

Not really the place for this, but smilies are there to differentiate between serious sarcasm (i.e. being nasty to somebody) and light-hearted sarcasm. In both cases, you are saying the opposite of what you feel for effect, but one shows you are doing it as a joke, not as an attack.
Now, do you get this point, or shall I PM you with some more details?

Oh no... I understand the rules. I just can't stand smilies. After using that one, it was all I could manage not to punch my monitor. I'm fighting back the urge to rant about it here because as you noted, it's not the place.
I personally believe that 'light hearted' sarcasm is an abomination, and the lowest form of wit should be used only to wound. However, I also believe that if anybody actually gets offended by an internet forum, it's about time they packed up their bags and kept away from the big wide world.
Heh.
So my sarcasm above was designed to be nasty, but it doesn't matter because we're ALL real men here (even the women) and we can take it on the chin.
Incidently, all Mods are wankers.
And I've had all your Moms.
So... do I get banned?

Sorry for it getting shamefully off-topic
*blushes*
Anyway, I can't comment on the other characters, but Link still feels, for me, hopelessly out-of-place. Even a mate who doesn't play games much at all said, "What the f**k is that muppet doing in this game?"
He admitted he (Link) played well enough, but that his presence was a cynical cash-in, and marred the atmosphere in the game.
So there you go - even people who rarely take an interest in games can notice when something is thrown in purely as a marketing exercise.

And I agree with Sidez. Better to stick with the original voices and add subtitles (not that they are really necessary for a game like this).

I completely agree that Link just looks stupid in the game. Does any here acctually play as him? I remember someone saying they did in the SC2 thread.
Is the Xbox version acctually going to be live then? I know everyone has seen the picture but in the thread from camps about xbox at E3, it doesn't say that it is live enabled. If it is, I shall have to purchase the PAL Xbox version.
Sidez - What stick are you using on the Xbox?

I mean if anything deserves a WTF., it's this.
Hopefully when converting it for western markets they'll at least have the option for original Japanese voices. Maybe they're just as badly acted but my lack of understanding means I can live safely in ignorance.
