Backwards Compatible GC no good for importers?

I was jut thinking how great it will be for me having a backwards compatible Rev as there is so much I have left to do with my GC game library. Then the bombshell hit me...

I have a Japanese Cube modded to play US games. Surely the chances of being able to play both sets of games on a Revolution console are pretty slim? It would have to be modded twice wouldn't it? And even then might not be possible for the Cube side of things! Bah!

Most likely the region protection will still be there. I'm sure Nintendo certainly aren't taking importers into consideration.

Pray Freeloaders works. Or just keep your Cube.

A modded PS2 will play back all region PS2 and PS1 software.

Surely it's possible Revolution will be the same?

i think there's a good chance the ntsc versions of the revolution may share the same 'similarity' the cube versions do... it makes sense for the hardware to be identical for these consoles due to lower manufacturing costs / economies of scale. in other words, it may be modable in the same fashion; allowing play of all ntsc games.

not so for the pal version, obviously.

& if i were nintendo, i'd specifically screw with BC to render the freeloader useless, if it isn't broken already... so you'd better hope they're nicer than me about it!

Nintendo might decide to scrap region coding, pal and ntsc crap and make only one format and support both japanese and english language in 60hz display and sod the rest of the world. (Ha)

Yeah, and you might win the lottery.

It's times like this that i'm happier than normal that i've got a purely Japanese Gamecube collection. I shall be buying a Jpn Revolution on launch with no qualms or worries whatsoever.
