    Best Donkey Kong Country

    Well? Which was it?

I confess that I spent way more time with the original than I did with either of the sequels, but the delights of emulation have recently brought these fantastic games back into my life and I want to know which one to play through again first

My personal feeling was that the second one was the best of the three - a nice variety between the monkeys and more skill-based levels than those of the first game; you could argue that the third game took this further, but to my mind DKC3 went too far with the skill-based stages, with altogether too many levels being screen after screen of ropes suspended in midair with bees floating up and down past them, lending the game an air of reaction-testing over pure platforming action. And don't get me started on those damn spinning blast barrels.

DKC2 is the best of the bunch. There are some fantastic levels in the game, and although the other 2 are still great it just edges it for me.

I'm actually Dave Fallows but I'm posting at Greg's house.

DKC 2 was the best IMO - very difficult, kept me going for weeks. I'm still trying to obtain the 100% mark now. Hopefully I'll reach it before my cart battery dies.

It had the best music too - back in the days when Dave Wise put some real emotion into his tunes, not heard recently apart from some parts of Starfox Adv.

Can't forget the under water music on DKC1 though.

Hmm, a hard one to call.
Whilst all three were similar, I would probably say the original. The 3rd one had excellrnt bosses and the 2nd was class, but I remember playing the 1st one more than the others.
At the time it was groundbreaking too (well the graphics were), which is probably clouding my judgement.
Best animal was Rambi the rhino IMO.

Diddy's Kong Quest for me, had some of the best and imaginative levels ever - and starred possibly the best Kong-duo. Although, all three are great games - but for me DKC 2 comes out on top for it's sheer brilliance .

All three games still play and look impressive to this very day . Most people wouldn't believe that all 3 games were running on a Snes/Famicom .
