          Oh it well worth if.
They're saying they have no intrest in the HH market. And that the Type X board is still too costly and that for now they'll stick will NA@MI. Milestone is made up of former Compile members (never read that before). Oh and that G-Rev did the game engine for Ikaruga

              Got it yesterday.

Good article on the small Japanese shooter makers. Those guys know what they're talking about.

It also makes you wonder about where this industry is heading, and whether it can really sustain itself in the long run...

I found the "Who Invented Videogames?" article and the extract from Baer's book quite illuminating...

                So much I didn't know...

Blimey! That review of Boiling Point is surely the most scathing thing I've read in Edge. Playing the game is "a nightmare in the style of Don't Look Now, where nothing seems correct and the overall urge it to turn tail and flee".
                    excellent

And yet GamesTM have given Boiling Point a 9 ! I've never known a game to get such blatently opposed scores from non-biased sources.

                      What gives?

Manhunt. An Edge 8 or a GamesTM 3? You decide.

Yeah i just finished reading the magazine. Baers book extract was very interesting and so was the small jpn shmup dev co's (especially their thoughts on the new handhelds, PSP in particular).

Good read all round though a tad, smidgenly, overly focused on sonys press conference trumping everyone else, rather than what sonys actual product was about.

The respective interviews from Phil Harrison, J. Allard and Miyamoto were good as well. Get em telt allard :P

And i read codeshop for once!

Yeah. I read the E3 feature and came away a little baffled to be honest.

It read almost like a Sony press release again (after the same thing happened with the PSP) - lots of gushing and seemingly no real reason why.

The Microsoft presentation was roundly critisised for not being in touch and Nintendo struggled to even fill a page at the end.

Edge's shredding of the thing is in no small part based around them finding the vehicle handling to be utterly broken and no fun at all. All I can think is that either they got unfinished code and were assured it was finished, or GamesTM were using a completely different setup that somehow turned it from a twitchy, glitchy mess into something more satisfying. But I've not read the GamesTM review yet, so I don't know what they liked about it.

Whatever about Microsoft, Nintendo showed nothing newsworthy. Hard to fill a page with a smaller version of an old handheld and a console they won't give away any details about. Having watched the coverage, I think it's easy to see why Sony got the better coverage - for better or worse, they dominated E3. Now I personally think Sony make a habit of overpromising and underdelivering but we'll have to wait and see.

Plus Fils-Aimee didn't even say anything amusing. He could've at least said they were going to pwn Sony, or somesuch.
