    King of fighters series

i am a big kof fan got kof collection for the saturn kof 2000 /94/01/03 for the ps2 so i am quite looking forward to kof:neowave downloaded a few clips but does anyone have more info? also on the orochi collection to

i must say though i am very dissapointed that on the hardware they didnt improve the characters there probably cut and pasted from the neo geo versions

NeoWave is fairly ****e. I've only played it a bit like, at Casino in London, but it really isn't anything to get worked up about. No new characters and all the sprites are just rips. The BGs are better but nothing amazing. Gameplay is standard KoF stuff with nothing really new brought to the table. I like KoF games and like collecting them, but this isn't worth the purchase.
'03 is much better, and hopefully the next one will be better still.

94 rebout is a total retouch of all the characters and sprites.

if you want updated graphics, play VF4 evo

kof is always , has always been about gameplay over graphics.

i got kof 94 rebout and the neo geo pad more as a collectible
now i am starting to get bored of the same characters being recycled over and over i am hoping for at least in neo geo battle colliseum that some of the characters will be altered but i doubt it.What i want is a kof game with at LEAST garou mark of the wolves quality animation and effects

King of Fighters 2002/2003 - XBOX

Is this a good game to start the series. I am not going to buy 3 or 4 different version. As I got Garou Mark of Wolves and Soul Calibur 3 on order. I just had Tekken 5.

It's hard to get excited about KOF these days. I honestly think you can have too much of a good thing and the series hasn't really progressed enough over the past few years. When I had my Saturn and Dreamcast I loved the KOF games but the more recent versions have just been treading water as far as I'm concerned. The move into 3D with Maximum Impact wasn't exactly successful either.

I think the main problem is the whole 2D fighting genre (and to a lesser extent, the 3D fighting genre) is stuck in a massive rut. I just can't get excited about fighting games any more. The old ones still appeal to me but recent additions have been either very lacking or just nothing new.

Fave games are KOF 99: Dream Match on the DC (lovely 3D backgrounds), KOF 99: Evolution (again DC) and KOF 96. And possibly KOF 95 cos it was the first game in the series that I played.

A lot of people rave about KoF98 but I'm a sucker for the 2001-2003 run of games. Not sure if it was because it was the first sets that I played and they kind of stuck with me.

Garou is the buisness though tbh. That and Last Blade 1 & 2 are still regular must plays for me

well i have to say my memory of first playing kof collection for the sega saturn was far more impressive than any of the kof series now
2d fighting games i still think are great rumble fish was pretty good but the one i am looking forward to is fist of the north star by arc systems just the 2 screenshots i saw has got me excited

My KoF virginity was broken with 95? on the Saturn, the one with the RAM cart. I thought that was pretty funky.

Since then my first MVS cart was 99 and I fell for that game hard. I just love the style of it. That was until I got 98.

98 is the complete package in my book. It's just got everything a fighting game should have. It's a stunning bit of kit, the number of characters is exceptional to start with and the speed and flow of the game is superb.

I just prefer KoF to the Steet Fighter games, I just can't seem to get my head around the 6 buttons of SF, whereas the 4 in KoF suits me fine.

Thats my fav too, i used to have it on the Saturn but ended up getting the AES cart and don't feel the need to get any others. Saying that i wouldn't mind a cheap 98.

I had Neowave. It's 2k2 with high res (yet still pretty dull) backgrounds. Sprites look awful. Plays as well as 2k1, 2k2 IMO but it was a bit of a lazy venture onto Atomiswave. KOF XI looks slightly better.
Fecking love 2003 though. Best since 2000 for my tastes. PS2 version is hit and miss, as they all are.
