Which do you prefer?Ive been pretty disapointed with my ps2,and think the ps1 was and is a much better console,maybe its a nostalgia thing and in a few years i'll look back on the ps2 just as fondley?Maybe its because i havnt played my ps2 anywhere near as much as i played the ps1?(no time)Or maybe becuase im an avid ps1 collecter?I bought into the ps2 pretty late but ive struggled to pick up more than a handful of games i want to keep(this could be down to the style of games i like tho ie 2d fighter and shooters)i really love my ps1 but the ps2?Just another console.

Good point i always prefered my Psone the quality of the games just seemed better Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, Megaman and many other series just seemed to lose something on Ps2. Same can be said for Nintendo though N64 is much better than Cube. -
Thats true,the only company that made better console in that round of the console wars was sega going from saturn to dc,none of this bodes well for next gen consoles.Comment

Each of the Sony consoles has it's merits - but I think if I had to choose between the two, it would have to be the PS1. Mainly for the excellent number of RPGs. The one area the PS2 pwns the PS1 is on fighters. Most of the Capcom fighters on the PS1 are ruined by loading times and crap animation (I should know, I collect the ****ers), whereas on the PS2 you have nice versions of Capcom vs SNK 2, Marvel vs Capcom, Guilty Gear series and of course the SNK franchises that continue to be released (roll on the 02/03 KOF double pack!!).
That said, If pushed I would abandon both of those consoles and keep my DC.Comment

in the end the ps2 is basically a piece of **** with huge support, out of the tons of rubbish that regularly gets released on it there are a few choice titles of worth but i fail to count 10. On a good to bad game ratio the ps2 is no different to the jaguar, 3DO, or CDi.
A lot of people are starting to see the ps1 in a different light, there are tons of enjoyable titles on the console such as klonoa, parapper, harmful park, and the parodius's. To me the ps1 is by far a better console than the ps2 there is just no competition.Comment

Personally I think they're just as good as each other but I'd go with a PS2 coz it lets u play most PS1 games as well
