Schmups for Xbox/PSP?

Can anyone recommend any schmups for PAL Xbox or PSP? I'm determined to keep trying as many new genres as possible and I don't own a single schmup game. I have fond memories of a couple of shooters on my Amiga (think one was R-Type maybe) and looking for anything really worth getting. Star Soldier on PSP has caught my attention, and I've heard of something called Sengoku Cannon: Sengoku Ace Episode III but little else.

only shumups I can think of on the Xbox are Metal Slug 3 and then the FPS and games like Yager and Aquilla.

$20? wow! I'm tempted to get it on the offchance I do eventually get my xbox modded :x are the "improvements" over the DC ver worth getting it for?

Towards the end of the First Play thread, Saurian tried the Xbox version, have a read its like 5 pages toward the end if I remember. Although they weren't very good, plus you got the DC its like the best Naomi = DC

If all the features available in all 3 versions (Xb, Ps, Dc) were available on one of them, then it would be 10/10. Xb has online scoring, Ps has tutorial challenges. Dc has... no added features.

Unless you count 'running at the correct speed and without muddy graphics, unlike the XBox version according to Saur' as an added feature...

Apart from anything, if you do mod, then that's a stack of MAME stuff right there.

If you don't want to mod, then if you ask me the two best shmups available on the PAL XBox are Defender and Robotron 2084, both on the Midway Arcade Treasures disc that is probably cheap-as-chips most places now (I bought it at the 'full' ?14.99 and thought it one of the best value gaming buys I made last year)

Gun valkiryie for the xbox created by the smilebit has wrist breaking controls but once mastered its awesome

Shikigami 1 is still the only import Xbox game I own. I thoroughly recommend it, although not as polished the second game it's still a fine shooter. It's the only shooter I can think of that I've managed to finish on 1 credit. I play it on my ****box of a TV turned vertical.

Oh and here's to Gun Valkyrie and Orta, both superb Xbox exclusives. Although not really true shooters IMO.

Thanks for the replies. Since I'm not getting my Xbox modded (and i already own Panzer Dragoon Orta) I'm gonna hang on for Star Soldier and Sengoku Cannon on PSP.
