    Halo 3 ''Details''

just found this on a random google over at talkxbox
very very dodgy stuff from this guy considering bungie had to be pratically tortured to name a probable release date let alone some info

My friend is not a huge fan of the series (he's a PC FPS player, although he has played both games), but he was made privy to some interesting things through his nephew. Of course, I can't confirm if they're valid or not because I'm just taking his word at face value. I will, however, let you guys take a gander at what he told me.

    1) It will have a darker and more gritty story than the previous games.

    2) They're attempting to maintain an online cooperative component for the campaign supporting more than two players at once.

    3) It has a lot of cinematics planned for it. The opening scenes apparently occur thousands of years before the timeline of the original Halo: Combat Evolved's story.

    4) It will have a multiplayer mode which pits players against bots in scenarios that are directly connected to the story of the game.

    5) They're attempting to implement both a map editor and a movie maker, which would allow players to send and receive their maps/movies through Xbox Live. This would apparently be on a separate disc, and they have an entire team working just on these two projects.

    6) Zanzibar, Sidewinder and Hang Em High are said to return to the multiplayer mode, completely reworked. Zanzibar will be mangled and torn apart as though after the battle, the sky will be dark red. Sidewinder will have four legs instead of just two, with bases at each end. Hang Em High will have a massive tree at its center and the structure will be deteriorated.

    7) They want to support more than fifty players on Xbox Live for certain maps.

this is being presented as fact on many websites
i mean ffs look at the first line
''I've got a friend who is the uncle with someone working at the offices of Bungie''

    a moviemaker? bots?
    how likely is that?

no offence but the amount of people who say 'I know a guy who knows a guy who has told me this about this game' ................

bots were originally considered for halo2 although i presume that was one of the many dropped features..

on a serious note, whilst this is all wild speculation, it doesn't sound unreasonable does it?

every other FPS supports bots, Pariah has a map editor, black hawk down has 50 players online (when it gets released) and doom 3 does online coop

i'm expecting a pre-emptive amazon review any time soon

It is unrealistic to think Xbox Live is capable of that. With no central servers and game hosting performed by someone's Xbox, it would have to be connection dependant, and no way is a 128k upstream going to be able to deal with 50 players.

Yusssssssssssss! I always thought that Halo was laking in the arboreal decoration front and now, it seems, Bungie have taken steps to remedy this.

So what about finishing the actual story of 2 ?

Why even pretend to know something and omit something like that, people cant even rumour right these days

From what i gather the 50 player servers are hosted by the company that is makeing/publishing the game and they are aable to do this because of the way live was licenced to various people last year. SO in theory it shouldnt be that bad.

that rumour of the opening cutscene is the only one i would belive. it seems obvious it would involve the foreunners in some way

this just in: parts of the game will take place on earth!!
                        wow

Yeah I think this is the only way to take LIVE! forwards - dedicated servers. The problem is when the game gets quieter - how long will they maintain them for ? Or do the servers get reset when they release a new game they need to host on it ?

Is this what's been done with BlackHawk Down to get 50 players or is it just going to be a lagfest of epic proportions ? (Battlefront 24 player anybody ?)

so whoever's making black hawk down is lying then?

someone should inform their marketing department that xbox live can't handle 50 players

someone should probably know square enix know that their port of final fantasy 11 is going to be limited to 50 people a server as well

None of that news is particularly unreasonable, but to believe it as fact would be very foolish.

I have to say though, some of it does sound pretty cool
