How to get a free replacement for your broken consoles

Ok, so this isn't the most moral thing to do and quite possibly illegal, but when your consoles break down here's a little scam you can do... right now it's my PS2 which is broken so here's what I'll be doing.

    1. Clean broken PS2 until it looks as new as possible.

    2. Buy new PS2 from ARGOS.

    3. Get home. Take new PS2 unit out of box. Leave wires and everything inside.

    4. Put broken PS2 unit in the box, plugging the new one into your TV as usual.

    5. Bring PS2 back (With your old broken one inside), tell them you had problems with it or any excuse (It's in their policy to take things back if you're not happy in any way) then you'll get a full refund and you'll have a brand new PS2.

Believe me, they never ever test them out and it works every time! I have been doing it since my Super Nintendo crashed in 1994.

Does anyone else do this, or anything like it? Sony consoles are so unreliable.

a, It's fraud and if you get caught, you'd be in a whole heap of trouble

b, My friend's neighbour tried this in Game and they knew he had done it because they checked the model number (the dumb git tried to return a launch model PSX as the latest model)

I'd warn everyone NOT to do this - it just isn't worth the risk. Just buy a replacement...

Heh, I did this with my Dreamcast actually, after a drunken friend made it fall on the floor. Most of the kids in Argos don't have a clue. Best to give a false address and phone number though.

If you are going to do this then you need to switch round the insides of the console as well. I don't know whether this is true or not but I've been told that argos send there PS2's directly to sony now before they offer a refund because they recieve so many broken PS2's due to bothed modchip fitting.

Hmm, prob best we don't go any further than that. It is of course personal perogative whether or not any of these schemes are attempted, and if successful the rewards are often very nice indeed, but a thread discussing which cons work and which ones don't won't do the image of this website any favours - of course it's done, but discussing it is just a step below posting where to get the best ISOs and Warez, IMO.

With all that in mind, thread closed.
