I cant believe people would give up thousands of games for a web browser (and not much else).

The hacked web browser released a few days ago is adequate, and you can still keep all of the EXCELLENT emus and homebrew software.

Snes emulation is great...are you sure you have the latest versions? Do you know how to use it properly? Do you increase your CPU speed, frameskip etc? Because Snes emulation is top dog on the PSP.

How can you give up NeoGeo CD emulation? It is immense.

    Beats of Rage, other apps...

Gameboy, Nes, PC Engine...it's just not worth giving up for a web browser.

The list of homebrew continues to grow in both quantity and quality!

Hackers will no doubt turn their attention to exploiting 2.0. Hope it is cracked soon.

I will no dount eventually upgrade (for PES/WE), but until then, I will not give up homebrew for something I can more or less already do. No way.

I've no doubt 2.0 will be cracked....and I read EU PSPs wont be 2.0, but only 1.52.

Personally I feel that PSP emulation is like PC emulation - I'd much rather play the games on their original consoles. Still contemplating if I should download the update though. Anyone used the browser yet? How's it like?

Maybe some people don't give a **** about all the emulation and homebrew stuff? I know I don't, which is why I will quite happily upgrade to v2.0 later. If I want to play some emulators I will fire them up on my Xbox, and even then I won't play any of the games for more than a few minutes before firing up something a little more next-gen.

Exaclty. Homebrew is a novelty at best for myself personally.

Out of curiosity...how old are the people who want to give up emulators?

For me, it's not just about the fun of the games, it's about the nostalgic memories.

Right so, I have upgraded - I use emu's on my PC, and I wasn't particularly bothered about doing it on PSP. Oh, and am 34

Anyway, Just gone to 2.0 on my US PSP- No problem at all, Really like the browser, nicely done with Smart text shrinking, adjustable cache size, Java support etc - Far better to use than the Portal through wipeout.

Obviously a pain in the arse to type on, but once you set up bookmarks etc it works fine - Speed wise seems to be limited by your connection, the forum comes up as soon as I enter the URL.

Few other bits - You now have "Playstation Portable" under the PSP logo when you turn on, Video files are identifed by format, A-B repeat buttoin has appeared - You can also choose left, right or both for audio whilst in video.

Theme settings lets you choose a background colour, or you can keep it at monthly cycles, Wallaper is self explanitory.

Havent played around with any of the audio stuff yet, as I dont use it for music at all.

Java enabled? doesn't seem to work for me, just tried a speccy emu online and no joy. says Java Applets are disabled on your browser.

                oh and I'm 30

29 years of age. I don't want to give up emulators, I just don't want to play them on the PSP as I can play them on a TV, the way were originally intented to be played (unless you're playing handheld stuff of course). Plus, there was feck all to give up as I've never had any home brew stuff running on my PSP in the first place...I didn't buy it for that purpose.

I'm not sure if it is turned on by default - it in "tools" then "settings" - I think.

Have to disagree with you there. SNES Emu on the PSP is elasticated pants. Having to do without sound for a decent framerate is rubbish and playing SNES roms with frame skip give me a headache every time. PCE, NES and NEO-GEO CD are still the best emus for the PSP by miles, and even they have their glitches. That said, I tend to agree with MonkeyWrench and others - classic games should be left to either their original consoles or proper PC emulation. Even though the PSP emus are in their infancy, for me they're an average bunch that are losing novelty factor by the day.

As for Beats of Rage and all the other homebrew apps, I find them to be highly overrated, tbh. If I want to make beats and tunes electronically, I'm more than happy to do so on my PC with Reason and other similar software.

You honestly believe that EU PSPs won't have v2.00 firmware as standard when they come out? I hope your right but I wouldn't bet on it, that's for sure. From Sony's point of view, they would be stupid not to do so. Besides, this is the most significant firmware upgrade released yet. Like I said before, there's no point being naive about it all - homebrew was clearly going to open the doors for UMD piracy (which is very much a reality now) and Sony have had their fingers burnt by it. Personally, I think that hackers all around the world are gonna have a hell of a job on trying to crack v2.00. v1.50-1.52 were little more than blatant knee-jerk reactions to the homebrew.

Which leads me back to my original viewpoint - one way or another, Sony are going to pull out all the stops to force v2.00 firmware on everyone with the next wave of new games (You just KNOW that Winning Eleven 9 Ubiquitous Evolution will have a v2.00 installer...). Are you and other homebrew addicts really gonna go to really extremes like coughing up good money for a 2nd PSP or not buying any new games at all just for the sake of homebrew?

I only ask these questions because I'm playing Devil's Advocate here - I've downloaded the v2.00 patch from Lik-Sang but I'm in two minds about whether to install it or not... !

The PSP browser is really neat, but it's crashed on my a few times when i'm whizzing around while holding square.
