Co-op games for PS2

I've enjoyed the following games in co-op:

Psi-Ops - Neat co-op mode imho
Conflict Desert Storm II
Half-Life - Decay co-op mode

Didn't really like desert storm 2. Already finished half-life decay, but haven't tried psi-ops - thanks for the suggestion.

I loved the 16bit era where games like Alien Storm, Streets or Rage, Final Fights, 2 crude Dudes and Contra Spirits to name a few involved 2 player, Even Goof Troop had me hooked till I completed it (was that 1 player, I cant remember now lol)

This current Gen of games dont have as much choice, the last one i remember playing was The Gauntlet game on GC a year or so back, but again, i prerfered the original

Yeah, I agree. I hate to say it but I think 3d is partly to blame. It's easy to have 2 people on one screen with a "normal" 2d top-view or side-view game, but most 3d ones have fancy spinny cameras (or 1st person ones) which don't work for 2. Split screen just doesn't work nearly as well. Ah well...there's always emulators...

Lord of the Rings Return of the King is excellent for co-op if you like the films

How about Dead or Alive (either 2 on PS2 or 3 on X-Box)? I always enjoyed playing co-op tag mode with my brother.

Slightly off topic, but I always wanted Gran Turismo to do a co-op mode. I never understood why they went to all the trouble of coding a 2 player mode, but just used it in the lamest possible way. Anyway...

Unfortunately my girlfriend hates fighting games (no moral objections - just "I don't get it"). Which is a shame, cause they're my favourites...

And I agree entirely with you forpey, so many games put in crappy 2-player modes. That why I started this thread - to try to pick out the ones with good ones! Even Lord of the rings: 3rd ages, with it's token coop mode (which you could easily do without by sharing a pad) makes a massive difference really...
Speaking of which, if anyone knows any RPGs that are coop (any system) then let me know, though probably stick to less popular ones that I might not know of.

I'm pretty sure theres another RPG with 2 player co-op battling, might have been a Star Ocean game.
