My favourite shooter ever is Axelay- and I don't care that some people think it's too casual because imo it's a work of art in every department!

Whilst a lot of modern shooter offer a challenge- not many of them have the production quality and passionate design of some of the old-skool stuff!

Picking favourite games is easy - narrowing it down to just one is the hard part ....

If I had to narrow it to just one I'd have to pick Robotron. I love that game.

rRootage and Torus Trooper have been ported to osx - but i'm sure there are others. i just use MacMAME for anything else.

edit - oh, and Tumiki Fighters is out as well

you people should be ashamed of yourselfs, we have thread here about favourite shooters and not one person has mentioned the daddy of them all, defender. You can keep your radiant silverguns and your gradius v's because none of them can touch upon the king of all shooters, defender, still the best in the genre over 2 decades since its release.

Thank you - I cant beleive it took until the fourth page of this post for someone to mention the Grand Daddy of all shooters Defender is my No#1 all time favourite, closely followed by R-Type.
