I ordered one from my friend's shop so no, no deposit was required when I did it. I'd expect most places to start taking orders when we've got confirmed pricing and a release date, which I'd expect to come at X05 in October, if not before.

At Amazon and Gameplay you can sign up to be notified when they go on pre-order. I keep checking anyway just incase they forget to tell me

I gave my boss ?350 this week and i hope this should cover the cost of the machine and a game upon release. I decided to pay for it so early whilst i had the money rather than whittle it away on random stuff.

I would - Indie is taking preorders & cash now BUT I want to be there to collect at midnight and I doubt they will do that so I've been waiting to see what GAME have to order but TBH they're taking their time about it...

I've been told by my indie that I can have one put aside for me at launch...no preorder necessary If I want one, tell him I want one. If not, tell him I don't want it and there's no problem

i've also asked amazon to email me when its availble to pre-order, and probably will do straight away even if theres nothing i really want on it at the moment.
i'm sure i'd be able to sell it and not take a loss anyway.

I know Gears of War won't be a launch game, for one. The E3 trailer said 2006.

They really need to hurry up with the list of launch games. I want PGR3, RR6, PD0, and COD2 but all of them are just pencilled in for Q4 2006 with no real mention of whether they're a launch game or not.

Am with Yoshi on the midnight pick up from Game!! Looking at picking up PDZero, PGR3 (2 was the nutz), Frame City Killer and DOA4, granted they are all launch titles. Also, want CoD2 but dont think it available for launch!!
