Would you want a Analouge stick for the DS?

Was speaking with a friend of mine about the DS, and was wondering
if a new DS model came out with a analouge stick where the Dpad is (and the dpad below it) Would you get it?

I would because it'd make games like Rayman and Mario 64 easier to play and I like the free movement of analouge sticks.
My friend wouldnt because he thinks " games wouldnt use the touch screen as much giving the ds a analog stick is a big no i think, coz it would make developers lazy, and we'd get the same crap as psp and other consoles"

Personally I think an analouge stick would be great.

I would definitely prefer an analogue stick to the D-pad. The absence of one is one of three main faults that I can see with the design of the DS (the others being that it is awkward to hold whilst playing certain games that use the touchscreen, and that it looks dog-ugly, especially in the standard silver colour).

Would I buy a version that had a analogue stick, possibly. Recent consoles seem to have a number of design faults, that invariably hurt early adopters, such as the 1st Xbox controller, or the PSP battery.

    ps. learn to spell analogue.

It depends on the games. All the games I enjoy on the DS to date make almost exclusive use of the stylus (except Advance Wars DS which can be comfortably controlled either way though when stable I far prefer the stylus).

But if they're going to release more N64 ports like Mario 64 then yes it needs an analogue stick. That was a game that, in my opinion anyway, should not have been released on a console without a decent analogue stick. It sucked donkey ass on the DS.

But thinking about it more - no. I don't want an analogue stick. An analogue stick would take the "DS difference" away. The difference being games that take advantage of the unique control methods. If the DS had an analogue stick and games that used it then the danger is that it becomes a technically inferior PSP. And what's the point in that? None.

Edit: And I started two sentences there with but. ****. Someone help me with my grammar.... in my defence I've been on the pop!

I'd love to see an analogue stick on the DS. It's not as if the stylus control would completely dissapear as tbh, in Mario 64 I don't think stylus control worked as well as an analogue stick wouldhave done. It also doesn't mean that stylus control would be irrelivant as games like Yoshi, Kirby and stuff wudn't work better on an analogue stick than they do with the stylus, it'd jus make the DS more suitable for more genres.

You need an analogue stick for Mario Kart to powerslide properly.
