True but its more unifed then it was years ago. What with direct x and only a few graphics cards and processor manufacturers.

I still bear a grudge about the way deus ex iw was dumbed down for the xbox and then was converted for the pc

Think my problem with the pc game is you dont many original PC only console style games

    PS2 you get games like viewtiful joe/castlevania/dark cloud2/gradius 5
    xbox you have gunvalkirie/panzer dragoon
    cube you have mario/zelda/metroid

Pc games dont really have a identity have to make do with average conversions Fps games ( which i am getting really sick of now). When was the last decent original fighting game for the pc?.

With the xbox essentially being a PC in a box i was hoping they would add many of those different games to the PC libary

Over the past few years my PC has played host to some amazing games. First you have MOHAA, which was the finest WW2 FPS around. Then we got BattleField1942, which was totally amazing for it's time. Then I had games like VietCong, COD,Trackmania and Unreal Tournament 2k3 which are all superb.

Doom 3 blew my mind when I had it maxed-out last year. Half Life 2 is simply sensational, and recently Battlefield2 has delivered another benchmark online experience.

The PC always has some cutting-edge titles to keep gamers busy. You don't really have to upgrade that much, I tend to change a few things every 2-3 years, and if you buy right and don't get caught-up in the bull**** then it doesn't cost the Earth !

Saying that though, I much prefer console gaming, and using Live for online!

I know what you're saying CM. I've played Half-Life 2 on full spec 1280x1024, and it's an impressive spectacle, but that MGS4 trailer was a wake up call. I'd adopted a 'it's all pre-rendered' stance before that point with regards to what I'd seen of the PS3 and Xbox 360. Right now, apart from the Unreal 3 engine (which has yet to be used in a released game), I don't see anything approaching the near CG film quality-level that MGS4 apes. Not even Stalker or Fear.

No doubt the PC market will catch up and surpass the consoles in a couple of years, but the specs I've seen of them are roughly being matched this year with the PC. This has happened ever generation though I suppose... there's always that year or so when new console technology has the edge slightly for each generation.

I think my only real problem with the pc is the upgrading.
?300+ for a good graphics card is ridiculous can by all the main current consoles AND a few games for each.Only once bought to gain perhaps a 10fps extra on games. And it will be obsolete in a year.
Playing games is one thing but you want to play games at there very best

An whats worse is when they say the graphics card is "limited" by the cpu and the cpu is 2.8ghz which in a console that cpu is very very fast

Everquest II and Battlefiled II look as good as almost any 360 or PS3 game I've seen

TBH, you don't need the ?300 graphics cards. You just buy last years graphics card. The system I built in 2003 cost me ?800 (monitor and all) and runs HL2 very well and BF2 pretty well. That's a 2 year old medium spec PC we're talking about.

Also, I think the graphic design in that video is just sublime. It's finger licking good. I'd say it would look just as good on console.

It's kind of dissapointing that Sega didn't go for console hardware. It would have been cheaper than PC hardware, and they would have had instant ports. Could have just dumped them out at a budget price and not put any extras in. I doubt we'll get to play most of the Lindberg games in Europe. It's going to be like Model 3 all over again.

That's got me more excited than any of the other TGS stuff. When/Where ?
