Originally posted by Kotatsu NekoThe Far Cry demo is very impressive, aside from the AI which is laughable. Strange as the PC version had amazing AI, but then it also had a massively more powerful CPU...
Still a great achievment, and an all new game too, not just a port! Ubi do it again.
hard to believe Ubisoft managed to fix all the shortcomings in this short period of time for realease. however, after the release of the horrible R6: Lockdown i would not be too surprised if Ubisoft would ruin this game too.

Originally posted by UliKotatsu, i don't know what demo you played but for me it's been an disillusioning and shallow experience. apart from the non-existing enemy AI there were tons of sound and graphics bugs and glitches. also i found the auto aiming far from beeing perfect.

The AI was terrible as I said, but it didn't bother me quite as much as it should as I was too busy marvelling at how they got all that scenery running on the little xbox. Plus it's very difficult to aim in FPS with a pad anyway so maybe it's a blessing that the baddies just stand there.
I'm sure the bugs will be gone in the final thing. Demos have to be ready a long time before a game is finished, and as you probably know bugs get squashed right at the very end of a project.
I was also impressed at just how different the game is to the original PC version. It's a whole new game, they really changed a lot. Whether it's a better game or not we'll have to see...

Glad to see the making of is on Zarch. A fantastic game with a very unusual control system.
If you don't have the original hardware (believe it or not I own three different Archimedes - I'm a bit of an Acorn nut) then I highly recommend getting hold of the RedSquirrel emulator and giving it a go.

Can you disable the auto-aim in Far Cry Instincts? I'm probably buying it Wednesday, but I loathe auto-aim. (One of the few things Lockdown does better than RSix3 is allow you to turn that off.)
EDIT: Never mind; apparently you can't turn it off.Last edited by the shape; 26-09-2005, 17:54.

I thought the GBA article was a little unfair in places. The handheld was slated for the fact that its top 10 best selling games are franchises and sequels. Come on! What kind of a statement is that? It's not as though the same isn't true of the big consoles is it?
Also, I think the GBA/SP/Micro should be lauded for the fact that it's still going strong in the face of all the cutting edge technology of its peers, not condemned.
And I personally wouldn't buy a Micro as I don't need one, but it doesn't mean the machine shouldn't exist. No-one forces anybody to buy revised Gameboys.
The game to film article was great though. Made me laugh many times.
